INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Well. The big boys are off to freezer camp

I can't believe how much quieter it is here.

Now to start whittling down the group. I don't know what I was thinking.... they were so cute when she hatched them !

They were all fed organic, non gmo, no drugs, free ranged on chemical free land and are 5 months old. Not laying yet but now that it's much calmer without the big boys I m hoping they start laying soon. Buff orpingtons. Message me if interested

@Crista
You should post some photos of what you have (unless I missed it already

). Oh... and where specifically are located...closest to what city?

I removed 2 boys for processing myself. Instant peace. Now I have 2 Buckeye Boys to either rehome or process. These boys aren't crowing up a storm yet at 16 weeks old.

@jchny2000 are your Buckeye Boys crowing non-stop yet? I only have one of them with the flock and 2 are in the little house and run. I hear a crow from the little house about once a week and no more.

My eggs are slowing down, ugh! I don't think its as much the season, as the changes with remodeling all my coops. Each coop means the birds are moved twice, and have to adjust to living on wire floors. They are learning it well but its really impacting egg laying. Glad I'm not trying to hatch right now!

Please pm me if interested in any of the 3 posted below. Downsizing more, its that time of year. I have a Nubian goat Doe, named Cocoa I would like to rehome. She is registered, 6 years old. Has a few years left for milk production and kidding. Gentle & sweet girl, but I want to stay with Oberhasli only. Vaccinated and will trim hooves again before she leaves. Cocoa may also be freshened, my buck Bocephus was in the pasture last month learning about electric fences. Cocoa, my Nubian REALLY likes my buck. I don't normally allow him into the pasture until January. He is full in rut and likely he bred her. Will be very reasonable to a loving forever home.
DH brought home 2 more jersey calves. both are healthy, strong and doing great, but we do not need 12 cows! I was a little upset.12 calves on bottles is a bit much for me to handle! I have 2, possibly 4 that are available for sale. Again, very reasonable its time to downsize. With fall weather coming I have to consider housing.

@Indyshent is keeping them for me during coop renovations. I am curious too if any are crowing yet! being heritage line I really don't expect much noise from the roosters.
Nope, but I have them in with the big birds. Everyone's in the one coop now--turkeys, chickens, chicks, poults, keets... and now duckies.... 'cause I'm a sucker... and the Martinsville RK had nice stuff, including:

Cayugas
Runners of many colors
Polish (white-crested blue and black, silver- and gold-laced)
Cuckoo Marans
Dark, Light and Buff Brahmas
BO
RIR
ISA browns
EE
Royal Palm and Bourbon poults (a bit older and quite healthy looking)
Had a spot for white, pearl and another color of guinea (one of the blue types)
Speckled Sussex

Go ahead and take a guess as to what I was suckered by....

Three Cayugas, one Runner of a weird color I'd never seen before, three silver-laced Polish and one gold-laced.

I told you I'm a sucker

So as you may recall we has some discord within our flock where our two RIRs, Peep and Cadbury, weren't getting along very well and Peep's bullying seemed to cause the other birds to pile on. Started free ranging them a bit to give them some extra space and that helped a little bit, so we nabbed a 6'x12' dog kennel at an auction for $17 in hopes of adding on to the run and giving Cadbury a chance to keep some space between her and Peep who seemed to be the jerk in all this. The new section of the run is daytime "secure" and more than doubles the run space. It also gives us an opportunity to separate Cadbury if things get a little heated. Seems like its working out pretty well so far. When we're not around we keep her by herself in the new section as we don't trust Peep, or the others for that matter, to be good while unsupervised. I've had them all together with everything open today though and all is well so far.
