Still trying to figure out the genders from my last hatch.
Sept 22; Almost 10 weeks old!
Any guess would be appreciated!

I nicknamed them by colors. I sold Black & Green, so I have 5 left.
Here they are: (You can click to enlarge pics)

BLUE
??? gender

PURPLE
I think male.

Teal

possible male?

White
*This one is from another hen. The mama (Jewel) had very large wattles & pink comb as a chick. "White" has always looked & acted like a female. The comb is pale.
Leaning toward female.

You can click on pics to make them larger.
One problem I keep having (besides all being lavs) is that they can look completely diff from one second to the next.

Here's what I mean:
See the possible male walking along the fence? Now look at the chick, front left. See how the wattles hang down?

One second later, you can see the same 3 chicks...... But where did those wattles go?

I was tricked by a female for quite awhile this past summer. She developed a reddish comb and wattles just like the boys but was calmer. She is orange so I couldn't tell sex by color like some of the others. After awhile I noticed that her legs were the size of a female.

She was the first of the pullets to start laying.

There are a lot of wattles on all of them...

The lav on left is one of the mom's. This was her as a pullet. (Very red comb/wattles and massive body) She grew to 10 lbs! The other lav is a full sister but looked so different. The black 1/2 sister is an Easter Orp. She's the smallest and still their leader. LOL

I've never been this unsure. Normally I can guess at 4 weeks & confirm by 6. The hardest one took me 8 weeks.
Their wattles say male & the combs say female.

For comparison...
Here was the father at 10 weeks (Wish I had an easy to sex male like him in this batch)

Here's one of the moms at about 10-11 weeks

So here's a funny one:
For the 1st 8 weeks, I thought male.

Around 10 weeks my opinion changed to female. (even coloring & rounded crest)

At 6 mo, my silkie began to lay eggs.
:yesss:

At 6.5 months, my silkie went broody.
:th
She just hatched some chicks:

....... and this morning she started crowing.:barnie

BTW- She now has 2 black orps & 1 pipped egg under her.
