INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Competition. It's like toddlers.

My box. No, my box! No, MY BOX!

Lady with a farm, kids, and no other roosters wants to take all my birds Saturday, so provided she shows up and doesn't change her mind, all the birds are going to have a nicer, bigger home this weekend.
:hugs I hope this works out for you. Sending you a huge hug and a prayer for health.

Yes, t's very possible the egg will land NEXT TO the nest.
Just look at that over-hang!

All my species do this! Even the goats, they all want to kid together. 2 of my goose hens (sisters) brood together every year.

Thanks for the info. I did find a guy who has some of the hens and roosters i'm looking for, although any new information is welcome. Beak trimming is definitely something i don't want for my birds.

Have you checked Indy Chickens on Facebook? I know a lot of people post on there when they are trying to find their roosters a home.

Just got caught up with reading the posts. It’s been ages since I’ve been on.
This winter has been rough!
My girls are definitely going stir crazy. I usually let them out to free range in the morning before I leave for work or evening when I get home, but it’s still too dark to do that. I’ve been rearranging their run & adding enrichment every week to spice things up for them.
They get some free range time over the weekends.
My plans for this spring/summer is to get our yard fenced in so I can let them free range without neighbors dogs/foxes/coyotes getting into our yard. Also letting them free range without worry of them crossing into our neighbors property. Obviously hawks & owls will still be a threat, but I would rather them be free range then cooped up all day.
Also on my plans for this spring is to fix our shed. The previous owner had a tree fall on it and never got it fixed. It needs a lot of work, but I think one free weekend & a few good friends will help us get the job done!
I’m at my city max with chickens. But my wishlist is still ever growing. I feel like this winter was more harsh on my flock than last year. I’ve learned a lot on what to do/what not to do & will definitely prep sooner next winter. @Indyshent I’m sorry you are going through this and I hope that you get some answers & a quick recovery!!
