INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Ditto. Looking for some easygoing gals close to Indy and preferably cheap. I don't want feathered shanks, but otherwise, I'm up for pretty much anything. Have one OEG who's flocking with the turk-turks, but I figured having another few girls (maybe a chivalrous guy even) might keep her better company. She's a nervous lady still.

To prep for the new Easter chicks on their way, I sold all of my last chicks except 1 Dom & 1 orp.

I think the blue orp looks female (because no comb, angular face, & much wing/tail feather growth)..... but the color is throwing me. It's a dark blue but may have a slight barring - unless my silver laced orp was the Daddy. Any guesses on what's going on?
(Note: the other "lighter blue" was looking like a mauve, and the black orps may have been getting lacing when sold. I asked the new owners to email me pics, so hopefully they will keep in touch.)

Here's the Dom we kept. They pretty much all looked the same, so I either hatched 5 males or 5 females.

The darker feathers, black wash on legs/beak, and longer wings should mean female.
The headspot & lighter chick down made me initially think male.
It's so much harder to sex one's own chicks!

Male or Female?

Since we got rid of all the extra chicks, I was able to move the mama back into the coop. The little family has a special little cage inside the run but can take field trips whenever they like to mingle with the flock.

Hello Indiana folks! I’m not sure if I’m jumping in on someone’s thread (I am new and the mobile version confuses me ). How do I post a new comment for Indiana only? Thank you in advance for the help. We are new-ish duck people in NE Indiana and just wanted some recommendations on where to buy goslings, ducklings, and guineas within the state.
Thank you, again!
:welcome Welcome to our thread :frow! Just jump right in, our only rule is keep things family friendly. Religion and political discussions should not be brought here. Its perfectly ok to talk about other animals. (I also keep cows and goats.)

My ongoing cow dilemma.... my neighbor Jack aka "the cow whisperer" came Sunday and we dis-budded & vaccinated my little goat kids. I was talking to him about the sudden udder changes on my 2 Jerseys, he said lets go look! Pixie and Dixie are developing udders!!!! :celebrateThus meaning a minimum 4 months into pregnancy! :yesss:
Abigail the Holstein...no. Soo he recommended keeping Moose my bull longer, and look towards Abby being on the short list for the freezer. I have not been able to coordinate a vet visit, but one of the 4 adult cows have to go. We suspected Abby to be sterile from the beginning, and now all signs point to yes.
