Did you hatch any silkied cochins this year? I'd love to see some more pics of those.
Your chicks look so friendly. I love the pathetic little crow. Talk about an early bloomer!
My 11-30-17 orp male has no desire to crow. (Just eats, sleeps, poops, and runs away from me.) We'll decide his future later. I'm in need of an orp for my lav orp hens, so he's a possibility. On the bright side, I've seen old Mr Dummy in action again. I placed some lav eggs in the incubator & hope they're fertile. Maybe he just needed the weather to warm up.
Not yet. I'm planning to set eggs from either them or the Dorkings (or both, depending on how well everyone is laying) around April 14 so they hatch after finals at the beginning of May. If I don't end up setting them then, then they'll be set in May after that hatch is done.
I'm going to be looking for a boy for my girls this summer. Any volunteers ? Lol
When we went to buy them they said they were all girls so I'm hoping all I need is to find a boy.
I just popped over to post pictures of my kiddos, three weeks old today (or close enough to).
And this sequence of pictures, which I may or may not posted previously? But I'm really enjoying the comparison, so here it is again! This is Trois at two-ish days old, then one week, two weeks, and now at 3 weeks:

How fun! Those are great pics to track growth.
I took a good idea from you & decided to take a photo of each chick just after hatch before dumping them into the brooder. Their names are just numbers from the order of hatch. I always keep detailed records, but with so many chicks, pics are probably an easier way for me to associate eggs, hatch times, & chick appearance.
