INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

@jchny2000 Have you dealt with a depressed goose? My Chinese hasn't been eating enough, and I think she is depressed. Is there anything I can do besides taking her to food?
Companionship is a key thing. If you have a small goose flock be her companion.

Stuck with crappy doctor after crappy doctor and don't have money enough to see anyone now. Had an MRI, but *nobody* has discussed results with me. Had bunches of labs done, everything's normal enough (when they bother discussing anything with me, that is). Had really hoped for answers, but nobody is willing to do the detective work on me. I give up. I'm sick of thousands of dollars in bills for no answers and no improvement.

I can't even get one to prescribe blood pressure meds so I can get dental work done. I've had a cavity since November 2016, and so now it's spread to several other teeth no matter what I'm doing to keep my mouth clean, but the dentists won't work on me because my blood pressure is so high. I've hit 178/119 several times, and nobody seems to have a clue why or care enough to find out (let alone *do* anything about it). None of them have even given suggestions as to how I might lower it on my own (so I've had to struggle with that using Dr. Google).
:hugs saying a prayer for you for answers.
I did, actually! Just been googling symptoms, getting worried, and giving up.

If i don't cover a question enough please pm me. I am no expert by any means but I sure love to discuss a problem or concern.
Out of the 10 day old Cornish Cross we have lost 3 of 51. One splay leg, one flip and the first was from shipping.
All I have left in our garden is corn to plant early bi-color. Way late but this hot weather has sure restricted us.

@Leahs Mom
It was great meeting you in person today! Please remember to update the thread with LOTS of baby chick pics!

Here's the link to DD's chicken training video.

I kind of wished I took out some cards to show you Bubbles in action, but I hope you had a nice time visiting, meeting the flock, and an easy, safe, quiet drive home.

@Faraday40
Yes! Was good to meet you and your family! Got home about 10p E and put the babies under the plate and they were out for the night. Still not light enough yet for them to come out while I'm writing this. I did stop not too far down the road to give them water. 2 drank quite a bit; the 3rd didn't. I think that is the youngest one.

Wanted to take a quick minute to recommend a product I purchased a few weeks ago.

We get a lot of chipmunks around the barn that like to go in when the door is open to have some chicken feed. I have been trapping them with a regular rat snap trap that is inside a container so that they have to go into a tunnel to the trap. That way no chickens, pets, or children can get snapped in a trap.

I was finding that sometimes the trap didn't kill them immediately so that they would be suffering in the trap. That's not acceptable to me so I decided not to use that kind of trap anymore.

I started looking around and decided to try the "Chipmunkinator" that Tractor supply sells. It seemed pretty expensive, but they said money-back if it didn't work so I tried it. SO GLAD I did. It really works amazingly.

So far I've caught over 15. Sometimes 5 at a time in the trap; sometimes just a couple. I even had 3 squirrels go in there on separate occasions which is pretty funny to see that huge squirrel get in this very short trap :)

Anyhow, it's a catch and release type trap - you can decide how you want to dispose of them (release or...)

The Cornish cross chicks are doing great! Meant to take pics but forgot my phone in the house. The temps we are having I will probably move them outdoors in a week. They were only on heat in the brooder for about a week, with 48 of them they are staying warm in the brood trailer. I've already split the group up into another brooder they are growing so fast. Once we see the finished weights, will weigh in on the results from this hatchery.

@jchny2000
I would love to hear your results. I've thought that I'd do meaties every year, and every year passes and I don't do it :hmm

I think I'd have to do a few small batches - maybe 10 at a time - rather than such a large group. I guess I just need to just do it...but every time I'm about to get some, I realize that there's some event coming up that will keep me from doing it (like being out of town, etc.)

Anyhow, what are you thinking - about 6 weeks to processing?

OH...and what has happened to Patrick?
