INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

The humidity has been awful. DH works in commercial construction, so he is going in before the suns up. Now with days growing shorter getting home almost at dark. He drives a dump truck, so at least part of the day he's in air conditioning. He has started letting the newer guys take the weekend over time more. (Especially since we have to get our new camper set up ;)!)
I have to admit I am looking forwards to fall. Ready to till the garden under and add composted manure. We've been looking at different greenhouse ideas. @pginsber wasn't it you that had talked about a new greenhouse a while back?
The heat is exhausting and hard to work in for very long. I am looking forward to fall as well. I hope it isn't a rainy fall though so that I can get things done!

Yes, we finally bought and built a kit this past March. Looking to store some tender perennials in it this winter will try lettuce and herbs this winter, too, and get a good early start next year.

Both builds look awesome! I am looking hard at your greenhouse I know Harbor Freight has them.

Good morning Indiana BYCers! My chicks arrived three weeks ago and we are four weeks into coop building. With work and school it has been a slow process and I'm ready to be done! My chicks were able to move into the coop after about a week (with their heat plate) and got run access on Sunday. They are super cute girls! I ordered six pullets, one Easter Egger, one Light Brahma, one Cuckoo Maran, one Salmon Favorelle, on New Hampshire and one Welsummer. Here are some pictures of the coop as it stands today. It still needs a coat of paint and the hardware cloth apron put down. We also need to do some work on the roof on one end and will be doing some landscaping once the hardware cloth apron is down. I'm really happy with it so far. Hope everyone is doing well! I'm ready for this heat to go away!

Love your Muscovys color, is it chocolate atipico? Or something I haven't heard of yet? You have a lovely flock.

This is the time of year- fall is the 22nd, I start looking everyone over and thinking towards winter. Tomorrow I am going to start checking feet, looking for mites/lice, overall health. Culling those who need to be removed from my flocks before winter. I already know in a few months we will have to address the drakes in the Muscovy flock, and it looks like 2 of 3 Physco's ducklings are also drakes :barnie. Hoping for 5 ducks/ 1 drake for next spring if everyone winters over well. I may keep 1 backup drake.
Temperament is great in my 3 backup roosters so they will stay for now. Blue, my Maran gave up her broody nest, eggs exploded. Sooo that was gross.. I finally found it by the smell :sick. Olive's nest, my OE is getting checked tomorrow. New replacement coop builds have started! We are going to be adding a hard hot wire fence around the areas that these coops will move around. 100% self contained and portable. We will start off in the garden, it needs a hard fence around it anyway to keep groundhogs out.
Once I get through the poultry and waterfowl, It will be time for vaccs, hooves and deworming for the cows and goats. 3 goat wethers, 1 buck and my bull will also be leaving the herds this winter. We've decided to try AI for both herds and hopefully not need to keep a bull or buck again. Once I know all my girls are bred, the boys will leave.

@jchny2000 I look forward to seeing the progress. Hope you share with us how these portable coops work.
Also, I know I've been thinking of my fall routine. I am planning on checking for pests and then readying the run for winter. Plus, I will probably do a coop scrub down before the cold weather sets in. We were going to expand the runs, but not sure if it will happen this fall or in the spring.

Thanks! I haven't taken time to study what the different muscovy colors are and what they're called.
