Wow! I feel so lucky to live in my tiny town. I am surrounded by fellow chicken owners as well as ducks, geese, horses, goats, pigs...etc. So glad I didn't have to struggle to have my chicken buddies!

I live about an hour away, but I have a few chickens for free if she would like them.
I've sent a pm, we are just a few miles apart!
I finally got some pictures taken & figured out how to post them!
This spring's chicks: buff orpingtons. silver & gold laced wyandottes, isa browns & easter eggers. The cinnamon queens were hiding behind the waterer.

Henry, our BO roo
Our alpacas after being sheared -- love the poofy hairdo. Alpaca necks amaze me!

The spring chicks about a month later. Is the middle girl considered an easter egger? The hatchery says its "araucanas ameraucana-strain". The chicks in the right picture were really curious what the alpaca on the other side of the fence was eating.

Our bunnies about 4 weeks old. The mom on the left is a blue Silver Fox. 2 of her kits are blue & the other 4 are black. Thrianta babies are on the right. The black baby with the thriantas is a silver fox being fostered.

Thanks for letting me share -- hope this wasn't too many pics at once!
I remember that last summer our "surprise" RIR cockerels started doing the dance. It was a little side-step shuffle as though they were trying to be intimidating, but at that age it was pretty funny. Several members have posted about cockerels learning to crow. I remember that ours started with, "Er a Er a" and finally graduated to the full "Er a Er a Errrrrr."my buff orpington roo dances. I think he has a fighting dance and a mating dance. He wont fight but if another roo gets close to his hen he does this funny little feet shuffle if they act aggressive back at.him he runs screaming lol then he has a diffrent dance he does when he's chasing hens around. I had a banty (idk what kind?) I called happy feet. He reminded me of tje penguin in the movie his feet were always moving but he had no hens he stayed by himself but It was so funny. He would shake 1 leg then kick the other he had a little routine and would do it while he was eating or standing. Iv not found another 1 like him![]()

They're adorable! I'd like to get a fawn/light colored one yet. The folks who did our shearing last weekend had a really pretty silver colored one too. I think I'd better stick to collecting chickens instead of alpacas -- alpaca math costs a lot more than chicken math -- and takes up more space!
Where did you have yours sheared? Bio secure came here, they were going to Mishawaka the next day though. I wondered if your were in that group. They're adorable!
