INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Does this actually work for you guys? Even with all the dogs I have marking (10 plus within the last 3 to 5 months) and 4 marking daily, I still have a roving pack of coyotes that like to come right up under my window and yip. In the summer we sleep with the windows open and they have woken me at least twice a month since April. I am assuming they are coyotes,as I have never in my life heard a dog yip, and because it happens in the very early morning. I thought I would share with you guys, I took a new dog into my rescue! It was against my better judgement as she is a pit/bulldog mix, but she really needed me. She has not been doing well with the other dogs, so she is currently living it up in the guest room. We've been switching the dogs out every 2 hours, so for two she's with us, two she's in her room with toys, etc. Maybe she'll scare off the coyotes?
My family are major fans of pit bulls. They have a bad reputation due to humans abusing their love and devotion. Pits are actually nanny dogs. The breed is on of the best to have around children. Just don't expect a pit to be hit (with sticks, rocks, hands, etc.) and still be perfect with whoever did it. We had some kids in our old neighbor hood throw rocks at my dog every day for a week then freak out when he growled at them! I love my pits, who were all three abused in their lives. Thank Your for not letting others undeserved hate keep you from taking that beautiful dog.! End of my rant! Thanks!

I just lost 5 chicks to the gnats. I have move 5 more in the house and I am spraying bigger chicks 3 times a day. My turkeys I have moved to a dark place they have bites on there heads.

We are about 5 miles from water the spray is working going to have to get something to hang in coop. Chickens love spray some have a lot of sores anything to put on them?
I used blue lotion on mine. You can buy it at RK for about $6. It is an antiseptic and it makes the wounds blue so the other chickens don't peck at it. It stays blue for about a week, but if you want to have the antiseptic properties every day, it needs reapplied.

You're welcome! I never realized how devoted the breed truly is. Yesterday I had to give her a shower, and most dogs have to be drug into it, but when I pointed she went right in. She didn't like it, so as soon as she was washed I sent her out. When she realized that I wasn't getting out too, she started whining. I opened the door to see what she wanted, and she hopped back in! I never have had a dog do that! I know what you mean, I don't really think any dog would react any differently from being hit. When I train I use treats and a spray bottle. Its worked well on her so far, I am hoping I can have her around my other dogs eventually....but probably not. She's still a good dog. I don't suppose from your experience that you know of a good collar for her? She has very wrinkly jowls and her current collar (not one that I've bought) has rubbed the fur off. I can't think of another collar that wouldn't do that.

i know quite a few people who afraid of pirbulls. Personally i love them and my dog chebby is a pitbull mix. And my sister has a full blooded pit. Mu dad told me this next thing and i never really thought about it before. No matter what from tome to time people are going to find anorher breed of dog to songle out as a " bad " dog. For example used to german shepards, rots, doberman pinchers, and so on. And its not the dogs it is what the people raise them to be. Personally i am not a fan of small dogs, but i have no problem with. Occasionaly you find a mean one ( and it seems like a usually find the little ankle bitters lol) but you dont see people going aroind acting like they are afraid of chiuhuahas (spelled that wrong) . And you know that there ate probably a few mean pits out there, but i am sure there arr some mean labs
, some mean pomeranians, some mean boxers, and i could go on but i will srop there. I dont know if they do this aroin where some of you guys live but around where i live most of the animals shelters give pits 5 or so days to get adopted and if they dont they get put down. Even if they never showed any aggresion towards anyone or anything. and the others breeds od dogs get a few more fays than the pits to get asopted before they get put down. To me it kind of seems like rasism towards dogs. But that just opinion. .Sorry for ranting and raving but seemed like the perfect time to vent. lol thannk you

aww how sweet. You could tru using a choker collar. they kind of hang loose on their neck inless tou pull on it. I used to hate these colors and think they xere mean, but when i took my dog to dog obidence class we had to ise these collars. Now she listens way better than she used to and when she acts up i just give the leash a gentle tug and she quits. In dog obedience thy ised to tell us to use sjarp snaps and i did the firsy few times but it seemed painful to me so i just used little tugs insyead. By then she had alreadu realized that if she avted up she would get a tug so bu that point it didntmayyer i could just look at her or sau her name and she would just obidently listen and quite whatever she was doing. She is getting back to the point where dosent listen as well anymore so sometimes when i want her to sit i have to tig on the leash, but i tjink it is just a phase as i consider her to be a puppy. Sp these collars also work good for training. and i dont thinl it will rub her fur off.

i lnow i will go on a walk with ly sister and her pit lexi. she lives in town so we have to walk in side walks. peiple will purposly het off the side walk get on the road and walk around and get back on the side walk after they have passed. I mean i undestand if they jave had a bad experience with one but not everyone in the town of bluffton has. and lexi is one of the sweetest pirs i have met and just walks and wags her tail( she look real scary lol). and my dog chebby is part pit and you can kind of see it in jer or at least i can. but other people dont always. people ask me what she is ans she has a lot of stuff in her lab, german shepard, and a bunch of other stuff i cabt remember. and then i get to pit and dome people shy away. Well theu were fone with her before they knew she was part pit so i dont see what the big deal is. But if someone is afraid of my dog then i dont want them to pet her anyways lol.

I was reading my instructions for the spring latch and decided I probably couldn't make one with those instructions.

A picture being worth a thousand words, voila! I bent one up with soldering wire for an example.

Attach to the cage door with wire ties in the spots marked. The little hook hooks over one of the horizontal wires on the cage.

The spring depicted will be for a right-hinge left-latch door. For right-latch, reverse the spiral and hook.

Try it. You'll like it. It's free.

John, Wow! Thanks so much for your detailed instructions & actually taking the time to make a spring latch. It's pretty easy to visualize your instructions as it sounds similar to our rabbit cages (although we don't actually make those ourselves). Zip ties sound way easier than Jclips that we use for rabbits -- of course, the rabbits eat zip ties & anything else plastic! We actually thought about using spare rabbit cages (maybe for the grown birds?) but I think it would be just as easy to start from scratch instead of modifying the rabbit ones -- especially changing out the floor to something smaller that would still let droppings through. Good thing school is almost done because I told my daughter she needs to build this since she wants the quail! Too bad there's not a cage building 4-H project -- then she could enter it in the fair!
