INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

bandaid the legs together for the sprayed leg issue. Keep the pad part between the legs as a spacer, it might take two bandaids.
if she was under the others she may have internal injuries. But for the not drinking eating thing, try force feeding water with that chick saver package from TSC that looks like a yeast package. Or use sugar water.

Also separate her and one other bird to keep her company.

Thanks Sally! I did end up looking and found the band aid thing. I'm scared because she's about a week old and then got it. I put her back with everyone else but I will go back out and get her with a buddy. I don't have another heat lamp though. I'm gonna have to find something.

How much ya wanna bet my DH will want to call her/him Gimpy?

Got outside to take some pictures of our garden (our first zucchini made its appearance today!). Then I decided to take photos of the chicks. They are still pretty skittish, but two will let me hold and pet them. Today they were all pretty curious:

(Bertha)

(Georgia, with Amelia in the back right)

(Amelia on the left and our baby roo Frankie on the right)

Thinking once the time comes I may try to breed Frankie with Bertha. I want to try with a GLW too, but I'm not sure what a SLW-GLW breeding will produce. Anyone familiar with wyandotte breeding who can tell me? :)

Ok I got good results from the blood test :) when I got home my chicken all my chicken ended getting out of the coop I started freaking out I dont think I'm missing any ....and Big Mama is starting to growl at me lol I took her off the nest 2 times today she went back on after she ate some food

glad you got good results and my hen that growled ate was named goose she was one of the 4 survivors from when my chickens got attacked. She has an attitude all the time lol

Oh and yes it's my first hatch

well i hope you have a good hatch. Im on fay 12 and just candeled. I threw out 3 now i am down to a total of 22 eggs.

a week old means temps of what 80-85 more like 85 for a sick bird. Can you keep your house at 72-74? Then a old fashioned 60-100 watt bulb will create more than enough heat.

I got another storage bin, lined it with paper towels, put a little cup of food and a little cup of water (w/ the chick saver- thats what everyone has been drinking since they got here on Sat.). Brought her and her buddy and put them in.

I sat with the sick chick and kept making her drink until she just kept falling back to sleep. I really don't know if she will make it. She drank only because I made her.

about the temps, i called my DH and "made" him stop by the feed store (he was going that way anyway) and grab another lamp. I still had the other 100 watt I bought last weekend.

My dogs were going bonkers, they want to see the chicks so bad. Since I have the tub in the house now, my "bird" dog barely has left the tub. Both of the dogs have sat and watched the sleeping chicks for close to 2 hrs now (besides getting fed themselves). They are so weird

Thanks for the help again Sally. I wish I could help you with your Wyandotte breeding question. Other than keeping BLRW from mating with GLW (so the gold doesn't turn the red orange or brassy) is the only thing I really know about the subject. Hopefully you can find some answers. I love your names, Frankie and Amelia seem to fit them :)

Just thought I would throw this out here. I have 9 ringneck doves for sale. 3 girls(white), 2 boys(blonds) and 4 unknowns(bull-eyed whites). $15.00-$20.00 each or will trade for a couple of silkies or a blue swede female duck.
