INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

So I am looking for someone to buy and install a fence for my yard for free..... Any takers?

My neighbours dog got out yesterday. Came into my yard... barked at me non stop like I was the one in the wrong. All of the chickens went crazy.. Could not believe the uproar they were making over the dog. That in turn started the turkey off.
After walking the other side of my house to knock the neighbours door to let them know their dog was out... low and behold dog was around the front,... barking at me nice aggressive stand. I am now mad... Go inside and grab a cup of dog food (and a nice heavy soup cup, just in case) by the time I came back out the neighbor had noticed his dog was out and put him up.
Neighbour apologized and the dog did get out of a 6ft chain link fence, so it was not on purpose.. but still scary thought.
Topping that off with the idiots on the other side who let their unfenced unchained dog out for the day.... I am a bag of nerves. If that little rat bag dog comes in my yard again I am catching it and calling the pound.

Think I might just electrify the perimeter of my yard.. See if another dog comes in.

If you find someone to do it for free, please let me know. Even when I pay someone 1/2 the money, they can't seem to get it done. please don't get me started.

I understand how you would be upset when that happens. Thankfully, that dog isn't one to be mad at. We have a neighbor two doors down- they have a fenced in yard but heavens to betsy never make their two little rat terriers stay in the fence. I don't know why they even have a fence- I have not seen them in the yard since March when we moved here. A week ago, one of them came on my porch while I was out there. I just told it to go home. I try to be responsible about my dogs. One of them barks a lot but they stay in my yard. The young girls do a good job of ignoring the barky one but the little neighbor boy is mean and actually told me to put her inside in a cage. I work with children and am getting my M.Ed. degree but I wanted so bad to tell him to get in a cage...

I have some Feathered leg Birchen Marans chicks I could get rid of. Total I have 2 cockerels and 2 pullets (will not sell pullet with out a cockerel). 4 weeks old. One cockerel is a blue Birchen all the other chicks are black. Let me know if anyone is interested. I can sell single pullets, pairs, a trio, or all 4 together.

I'm starting to sort through youngsters to decide who to keep. I know that I have black copper Marans babies to go, and some silkies who are old enough to make a guesstimate as to sex. Not sure what else yet.
Going to a show in Shelbyville KY this Saturday, so plan to take my extras then. If anyone in the neighborhood is interested, send me a PM before Friday afternoon, when I'll be packing them up.

Does anyone know if horse and stall spray(used to keep flies away) is harmful to chickens? One the label it says you can use it on cats and dogs.It is a water based soultion and it has 2 ingredients but I can't remember what they are. I was just going to spray it on the walls of the coop to help with flys, I am also going to put up fly traps just wondered if I could use this too. Thanks!

On the subject of dogs...does anyone have both chickens and dogs, and if so any tips on how to make sure they coexist peacefully?
I have dogs and chickens at first one of them would bark at them, but now it is like the chickens arent even there, All I did was tell the dog to knock it off and she obeyed.

To be honest, I not sure. However from owning a parrot, I am aware that the respiratory system of birds is much more sensitive to chemicals than other animals. If it were me, I would avoid using them and stick with traps and tapes. Of course Im just speculating and don't now for sure

I maybe making a trip down south to Greencastle, IN from the Ft Wayne area in a week and a half or so. I don't mind playing chicken train if need be. So if you need birds or eggs picked up or dropped off along the way, I maybe able I help. I'll be traveling along I69 to 465 to I70. Of course if its not to far out of the way I can take other routes. I should know for sure within a week if I'm heading down. Let me know if anyone could benefit from this.
