INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Well the incubator has been on since this morning and is holding temp and humidity well. Tomorrow morning I will set 12 Silkie eggs I've collected this week from my three beautiful Silkie pullets. They have been laying for a little over one month and I am anxious to see if my young cockerel is doing his job. :fl
Good luck! Got my fingers crossed for you!

Hello fellow Hoosiers. My name is Mark and I live outside of Hagerstown Indiana. Started with chickens back in the end July. I have 5 Rhode Isalnd Reds and 5 Barred Plymouth Rock. They started laying the first week of December and I am averaging a little over 60 eggs a week from them. Just joined the forum a few days back and I am still trying to get the hang of things. Good to meet you all.

Mark
Welcome!

ETA: How old is your goose?
I am getting 2-3 eggs daily just started about a week ago. I have 5 geese, 1 gander, last May's babies.

So being cheap and wanting to get rid of heat lamps if possible, I've been looking into the EcoGlow by brinsea. I just couldn't get over the "high" price and decided to make my own. I have reptiles as well, so use FlexWatt quite often. I had some extra laying around and will be attaching it to a board (thinking corrugated plastic like yard sale signs are made from). I made the stand out of CPVC. I will have around $10-$15 total to make it. Here is a picture of the stand. So far none of it is glued together. I got out the dremel tool and ground down the inside of the "T" so I can raise and lower the FlexWatt. I will drill some holes along the legs so I can put a pin in to hold the platform at the desired height. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Looks good. I admire everyone who individually hand turns the eggs! I don't think I could do that. With the quail eggs, I just put them in cartons with the bottoms cut out pointy end down. Then just tilted the incubator several times a day. It just seemed easier for me and I was worried about the bator getting too cold.

I tried turning the way you just described on last batch but i noticed that 1 end would get hotter and the other would be cooler. I just didnt like that.
