INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Morning all! A chilly 18 degrees here. I think I need to get overalls just to finish my bantam coop! Maybe by afternoon it will be tolerable... we'll see.
Good Morning Crafty and all others!

This cold Spring is truly hanging on a loooong time. I'm outside everyday for awhile regardless of the weather to tend to the dogs, goats, and chickens. It is cold but the sun is really nice to see! Our swamp willows all have buds but they have hot popped open yet. I saw on the news that some people have had flowers trying to come up as well. Hopefully we have just one more week before we see some mild weather.

Oh my!! I've been off here a few days and come back to find a million posts, (exaggeration I know..lol) And a BUNCH of new members!! Welcome all of you that are new to the thread!

Thanks! What is the "LF" column in the new member list? I was surprised to see only one member from Hamilton County.

Love all the chick pictures posted!

Four the birds- LF is large fowl

Good morning all, yep pretty cold. We've had frogs singing here for 2 weeks even with the cold nightly temps. And I have daffodils showing yellow. Spring is a comin'!! Just not fast enough for any of us!!

Yes, Old Rooster, I'm going to suggest to my husband that we park an old school bus in our yard. haha

Well you could buy an old U=haul type truck remove the "box style" bed add a roof and paint instant chicken coop, hubby might prefer a coop that does not rot and since there are some with lots of aluminum or fiberglass no rusting either.......

danand: Ah... Thanks!

You must be much farther south than us if your frogs are singing! Each Spring we have many hundreds of frogs around our pond that come out and sing. Big green bullfrogs and many many American toads....

I typically account for 4 sq feet per bird in coop and 10 sq ft per bird in the run. Regardless of chicken size (bantam vs LF),I follow these guidelines.
