INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Im thinking of planting alot of sunflowers this year. Maybe that will attract the crows.LOL

Same here cluck! Yesterday Iwas watching them roam outside the bathroom window, and Isaw a huge bird shadow on the ground. I ran outside and looked up, but couldn't find the bird that made the shadow. I couldn't imagine seeing my chicken falling from that height. Crazy sure had a crazy ride!

Im sure the hawk picked her out because she is the easiest prey right now with her foot injury. I dont know how many lives she has left! Wonder if they have 9 lives like cats do?

I haven't gotten close enough to see your hawks clearly. Are all 3 of these resident in Indiana - even up north where I'm at?
It seems like the ones I get a glimpse of are more "brownish" so I'm guessing the red-tails.

The size difference between the coopers and red tail is very noticeable. All the attacks here have been by a Cooper's hawk. I had one d'uccle come up missing last year and came home to another of my red sex link with big gashes on her side. I'm assuming it was the Cooper's hawk and just couldn't carry her away due to her size. Never had an use with red tails, just the coopers. When I first saw it, I thought it was a falcon due to how much smaller it was compared to red tails
