INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hey everybody! I need to vent!!!

. I got home to feathers alllllllll over my driveway and a note in my door!! My neighbor across the road saw the other neighbors dog mauling one of my chickens!!! She chased it off and call the sheriff!! So I'm missing 2 adult, laying Buff Orrpingtons!! And my buff O is tail-less!!!! I am just furious!!! I just had a conversation with the dogs owner 2 weeks ago that he better keep his dogs off my property!! He was unsympathetic!!! So now I've called the sheriff and told them I'm want to charge him with loss of livestock and anything else I can!!! So then... I called the neighbor and told him that I had called the sheriff and that he needed to look for my chickens because I didn't want them to suffer and had a right to know if they were dead!!! And sort of a funny note, the dogs I told him to keep off my property were not the ones that did it. He had more in his backyard! Boxers!! And they've tried to get into my Millies . When I was giving them their afternoon treat I noticed lg dog prints and now it's muddy around their pen!! Thanks for letting me vent! I knew I would some day lose some but I thought it would be coyotes or hawks!
I think I would be over there mauling the neighbor--furious wouldn't even be the word! If I ever see a dog other than mine (or my mom's and sis's) around my flock, it's time to break out the 410. Probably couldn't hit anything, but I'd feel better!

Chicks in brooder still clicking when breathing. Still taking Duramycin & Probios. Trying hard to make everyone not touch them & wash hands if they do so it doesn't spread to the other flocks. Frustrating.

I would try a stronger antibiotic such as Tylan 50. I believe you can give orally, but injecting it gives better results (so I've read). Also if you want a more natural method maybe try VetRx. TSC sells it and its an all natural product.

Thanks everybody! My husband is out of the country for work and when I told him he was furious too!! Doesn't make it any better that the sheriff and the neighbor with the dog isn't really worried!! And yes I am furious too!! Those were my only 2 BO hens. And the roo is a BO. He has been defrocked so to speak!! And yes we keep "things" ready for just such an occurrence but of course I want home!! Now I'll have to keep them locked up unless I'm out with them!! LGD is sounding better by the day!!

Anyone on here possibly interested in any boys? I may have too many and I want to find good homes for them. I don't eat my chickens and would prefer that no one else does either. I just don't have the room to balance out my flock with more pullets. I have a Silver laced Wyandotte cockerel who is very sweet, a partridge cochin cockerel (bantam) and possibly 1 or two bantam brahma cockerels. Its to soon to tell with them. One buff one light. I love them all, but I can't keep them all. Being that we are all neighbors, sort of, Im asking you all first. Pics of them on my profile.

Oh no! Sorry about your chickens! I hope something good will come from that though! Maybe this guy will learn to be a RESPONSIBLE dog owner! Makes me furious! I Havel a lab mix and 2 pitbulls who NEVER leave my property! Ugh!
Whynot- Welcome. I'm fairly new here also, from southern Indiana.
