INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Yes! If the place only sells straight run, I will be placing rather large order so I can get all the hens I want!
I love that name, Happy Feet. I may have to steal it because mine had a rather girly name! I have only seen one dance from him but hopefully he'll do more.

That is so cute!

I would be interested to go in on a couple sfh as well for my free ranging flock. Im just one county away from her so I could pick up until everyone can get their chicks

Hey y'all. One of our fellow Hoosiers, Beelerchicks, lost her flock (5 hens, 2 cockerals) last Thursday. She's looking for anyone around Fortville that has some hens for sale. Not sure if she cares if they are pullets or not but I thought I'd through it out there for her.

Hi there fellow Hoosiers! New BYC member here from Greenwood, IN. Anyone else in the area? As some of you may know, Greenwood is not Chicken friendly. We are starting the process of talking with our city councilman to see about changing the ordinance and zoning restrictions to allow residents within the city limits to own a small number of fowl. Its going to be a long process but the more people we have pulling for the change, the better the chances are.

I also posted a thread I posted in the Ordinance subfourm titled "Greenwood IN, lets make a change!". Just wanted to intoduce myself here and get an idea if we are the only Greenwooders who would like to see a chicken movement. :D

We just moved from Greenwood. I looked into keeping chickens there but they were pretty chicken unfriendly. We knew we would be moving so I didn't look any further into trying to get it changed though.

Best of luck to you!!

Best of luck to you as you work with your city ordinance. We recently moved outside the city limits of Goshen so we can have the animals we want. I believe there are persons working on allowing chickens in Goshen as well, but I'm not sure where they're at with it. My husband works in South Bend and they recently passed an ordinance allowing chickens, although I don't know the specifics. South Bend is also now working at changing ordinances regarding keeping bees.

I just got off the phone with the SFH lady...She was excited to hear there are some more people who are interested. She has an account here but rarely comes on, let alone participates like we do on the boards.

Right now she is taking orders for Day-old chicks at $10 each. There is currently only 1 pair but she is expecting more chicks from another bloodline to avoid inbreeding.

She is also considering selling her cochins and light brahmas to concentrate more on the SFH- their temperament, coloring, etc is wonderful (her words).

ShawnaScott, I will PM you the number. Anyone else, just PM me and I will pass her number along to you :)

I live about an hour away, but I have a few chickens for free if she would like them.

I've only names 3 chickens...all are roosters. Lemon Pepper a is black and gold mystery chicken, also my biddy and the too I've chosen to keep. Even the hatchery is having trouble identifying it. We also have Beer Can and Grilled..... I think those names are pretty obvious. Only 7-8 weeks old and they are pure. Evil that will soon be cooked by the method of the name they were given.

I've sent a pm, we are just a few miles apart!
