Welcome to the summer of the broody!
I just pulled my uber-broody gold laced Wyandotte hen off a nest, where I then discovered she had been sitting on broken eggs and egg goop all day. She had two eggs glued into her feathers and a whole lot of nasty egg goop all over her belly. Needless to say, Miss Broody Wyandotte did not appreciate the hosing off she got after that stunt.
Meanwhile, I have a golden Sebright hen, Amy, who went broody right after I got her silver Sebright sister, Scooter, to quit brooding.
This isn't as big of a surprise, though, as Chickie, the
8 YEAR OLD Easter-egger who has never brooded in her life, deciding to up and go broody as well!
I need more broody busting cages!
