I think skin and fluff was replying to me asking where you can get NPIP tested and also included the price.www.addl.purdue.edu
Oops, replied before I saw your next post. Is the $88 for blood testing? I've had necropsies done there for no charge.

Quote: I am so sorry to hear, Hoping its better news.
I am planning on NPIP too, Once the years hatching ends and the flock settles out to what I am keeping. I don't think anyone locally has it, so I may look into the training next year also. I Have all the forms, just have to get busy and do it.![]()
I read hogster's post before I read yours, which is better advice. I found the Purdue lab info, but didn't know about the ISPA paying for the tests!Send to the Purdue amimal diagnostic lab in West Lafayetter. If not too far a drive for you, you can take her there--they'll even do the euthanising; otherwise get a cool pack from Fed Ex--don't tell them what you're shipping, and ship the body overnight. The diagnostics are free, paid for by the Indiana Poultry Association. If it is Marek's, then all your birds are exposed; they may not develop the disease but will be carriers for the virus. It's deadly and highly contagious. They then shouldn't be sold or exposed to other birds, and any new ones that you bring in should be vaccinated.
It's better to know than just to hope. Good luck!
No, I didn't smart off to the neighbors because I wouldn't want my house to be egged. haha This evening, the same scene was repeated-- the hens and I doing landscaping in the front. A couple stopped and said, "Look at the roosters!" I guess if a chicken has a comb, it's a roo. That's must be how we can tell the difference between males and females. hahaSome questions people ask kill me lol. Multiple people I know didnt think you had to have a rooster to be able to have chicks .I've also had someone ask if you had to have a rooster to get eggs. I would of had sarcastic anwsers too. Did you actually say "no they are robots", that was halrious.....I would of said it lol.
i posted the poo link if u look at my profile and past post its should be in there somewhere! Good luck!I'm thinking that it is a black-normal is a once a day poop. Someone gave me a great link to a site that shows photos of normal chicken poop and recently I re-posted the link when someone else needed it. I tried searching the thread, but I am really tired from doing landscaping work with my chickens (I put the rocks in, they kick the rocks out), so I have not found the link. It's one of those handy resources that we need to keep on the members' list for reference.

I added some new pics of my chicks:

There's supposed to be a video too, but I don't see it showing up yet.
Chicken poo link! Good luck!there are several types of bowels that are considered ok. U have to remember that a bird poos and urinates from the same place. Im sure it is fine but in case u need more convincing check out the normal bowel movements here http://chat.allotment.org/index.php?PHPSESSID=f5a02f9f75d141ca9ca0658c2d595aae;topic=17568.0

O I didnt realize they were your neighbors....if it were my neighbors I would of still done it lol.One I have been friends with for about 6 years, the other is kind of crazy and keeps to herself, and the other I don't care for, because my goat got out he was going down the road at 70mph hit it and killed it. It was partically my fault for not fencing them in good enough but if he wouldnt of been speeding he probably could of stopped in time. Also when I used to ride horses I was riding one day and he was on a 4-wheeler and didnt slow down at all freaked the crap out of my horse and we were on gravel and it kicked up some gravel and hit my horse which made it freak out more.that has happened several times. All this was before I moved and then I moved a few miles down the road.Guess who ended up being my neighbor about 1 year later...him!Oh well I could have a worse neighbor.Sorry I posted the Purdue info before I read all the other posts. I did notice the pdf forms for NPIP online when I looked for the egg testing one.

Momma turkey took the chicks like her own. I am dead excited about this. All I have to worry about now is whether they get enough food and water in the pen.![]()

I did sneak a picture of the chicks under, however it is on DH's phone. Hope to post it soon.
Really had some reservations about it working... Who knew!
Victoria~ I must have somehow missed the post about you getting chicks... are they turkeys or chickens? Is that why you sold some of your flock on craigslist?
