INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

He has pointed saddle feathers and the typical brick-red shoulder markings of an Easter-egger rooster. Saddle feathers show up at the base of the tail typically between 12 and 14 weeks old, though I had a young man whose saddles showed up at 7 weeks or so this year. Those feathers are a guarantee of a rooster, though, because hens will not get those feathers, especially young hens.

Here is my boy at 12 weeks old. See the pointed feathers at the base of his tail? (As a side note, he does not have the red shoulder patches that most EE boys get, but he is still very much a boy. No pullet would ever have the red shoulder pattern of that person's bird, though.)

If you can, post a picture. I'd be glad to help you determine whether you have pullets or not. :)

Oh, man, someone just posted 'Yeah, I was in denial about my EE roo, too.' to that person on Facebook! :lau I just can't believe that after 15 other people have said they're wrong, they can sit there and think that we all must be mistaken! If 15 people correct you on something, don't you think there must be something to what they're all saying?

So who's coming over to my place for a backyard pagoda build? I can serve eggs for lunch, since nobody here has tasted fresh eggs before. Starting the floor today, it has to be off the ground a bit to clear the occasional flood our yard gets. Need a backyard place to avoid the dang mosquitos so we can have better chicken TV.

Going to build it with plans in my head, so there will naturally be some re-building as my plans usually have some initial failures. I tend to overbuild things also. Gotta make them strong enough to withstand a direct hit from a tornado!

The house is obliterated, but the chicken coop is just fine.

Why do you have to show off with more posts than I have?

I have fewer posts as I reserve myself for being funnier and sounding more edumacational in smaller bursts.

No one likes a post hog

Too Fast has many interesting things to say that are of keen interest to the rest of us.

Post #175 and post # 312, for instance.

The rest of it is mostly mindless blathering, but those 2 bordered on somewhat interesting.

Keep up the good work, Too Fast.

I think the chicken disease has infected him. My wry neck EE Crook, our BR poult snoodles and my gander, Gee have become his favorite birds.
Anyone else raising coturnix quail, I have someone asking for a breeding quad. what do you feel is fair price for the jumbo as adults?

Here ya go! It measures about 24 w, 18 h, 12 deep.
With some effort, he should be able to make a MUCH better version.

The framing around the top is a drip edge to keep rain out of the hopper.

Send me a self-addressed stamped envelope of epic proportions and I'll mail you some of the fencing. $15 postage should do it.
