Barb- chicken chat on FB had pics of P Allen at the show. And yes it said there were 6000 entries!! I did mention to DH that'd I'd liked to go but just too much going on here!! So what was with the fluorescent silkies??!!

Many people dye silkies random bright colors to attract attention and other various reasons. there wasnt any at the lebanon show this year

M2H - Your Bonbon looks like a little, round, chocolate bonbon. She is so cute! Even my DH was interested in her.

bradselig - Love the pictures of your chickies! The different feather colors and patterns are beautiful. Almost makes me want to rewrite my Chicken Want List yet again!

kabhyper1 -Lavender and Blueberry are such a lovely couple. Their chicks will be gorgeous! I liked the pictures of Blueberry trying to be friends with Gus and of Lavender performing her motherly duties. Her 'stink eye' is a pretty mild one.

Our little kitty, Toodles, passed away unexpectedly Thursday night, and I am broken-hearted. He was a round, cuddly little fellow with a funny personality, a tiny snuffly nose that snored, and a bit of moxie. He joins sweet Freddie, who passed recently, and dear Pookie who died in December. It has been a sad year for cats. They all are very much missed.

Aww, sorry about your kitty, were you able to figure out why he passed?

Thank you. I went out tonight and cuddled them a bit. I picked Blueberry up and checked his molt progress, he went through a rough one. He is finally getting his hackles back. He has so many feathers, I would have never noticed his molt other than he had a lot of downy feathers showing, and the back of his neck was bald. I will let you know about eggs. Lavender will be back with the flock permanently soon, with her kids. Hopefully she starts laying, and doesn't just go broody again.

Thanks! I hope we get chicks from them, Blueberry hasn't tried to mount her, and she prefers being broody to actually laying eggs, so I have my work cut out for me next spring lol. I am so sorry about your kitty. It's hard to lose them.

Well I lost my first meat bird to a hawk attack today. Heard the dogs barking, ran out back and didn't see any of the meaties. So I go out front, and there on my tree sits a huge red tail hawk. He flew away as I came near. Go out back and find them all in different hiding spots. All accounted for. Nice. Well, tonight I had one limping, so I pick her up and inspect her, shes ripped open blood dripping down one leg. We dispatched her immediately. So now on to the butchering. Her left side was the only side with a 1 1/2" gash and ripped open under her leg so I'm going to try my hand at butchering her tonight. Shes of decent size so that why I think the hawk wasn't able to take off with her. And my dogs, love them, made such a rutkus I knew something was up.

We might of been interested in some of the GLW that a couple of you are selling if theyd been available back in may, but we are now working on a restoration project with Iowa Blues - hopefully we'll have some hatches next spring. We may work on getting some more White Chanteclers later on for that breed restoration too, after our RSL's , EE's , Americauna , & Delw are old. Good luck finding them new homes.
On the topic of frozen pizzas - none are super delicious - i go for whatever on sale any given week.
A good movie suggestion that we enjoyed A LOT was a recent one called "Now You See Me" - keeps you guessing throughout the whole show

Yes this is our first one. So we figured we'd at least give it a try. It's bleeding out in the garage atm, and I'm getting the water to boil for the feathering process.

We actually thought it got a layer too. Had a BA missing. Found her though, she was in hiding still. Poor little girl. And all the birds have been checked over to make sure the hawk didn't try with any of the others. Other than scared, they all are injury free. **** hawks. I know its a risk of free ranging, but man does it suck!
