INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I can't stop checking accuweather! I am worried about the muscovy, all 4 of them are not minding this well at all. Even my big drake seems very sluggish.
I am going to be stashing critters everywhere tomorrow. They are a south american breed, and did fine last year. This has been harder on them already.
My 3 ducks (hens) don't get along well in confined spaces either. I may have to put them in the growout shed til the 0 and below is over.
Baby moo aka Ribeye seems to like the snow, he was a total goof this afternoon prancing around!
Tried to get a video and failed... did get a few pics.
Bo, sugar and sophie are not amused, and are staying in the warm hay.
Good choices! They are still high on my wish list too.
I hope they do okay! Ribeye, sounds so cute. Thanks, i needed to add some good blood to my stock, I already have some from him, but it is second hand.

Bocephus my buck... he has really grown up!

Saturday here is suppose to snow a little and be 30. Stay warm.

My sister told me she went to walmart tonight. Big mistake! She had already planned on grocery shopping. Then everyone freaked out about the snow. There was a few things on her list she didn't get, like bread lol.

Quote:
Kroger had plenty! Meijer, marsh and walmart were all empty. Milk bread and EGGS were gone at all but krogers.
Being friday, DH and DD both stop and get grocery and feed on the way home.
Both said it was terribly crazy at all the stores.
I keep a dry storage pantry so we usually dont need a lot, DH asked me if we need a dairy cow for milk..
I told him sure if its a brown swiss! They are just too sweet.

I gave in, put the kids with the parents. It's totally dark in there, so we will see how the morning goes, but so far so good. Much easier cleaning out one box instead of 2!
Advice about my Jersey please!
Ok, kabhyper, I am as weird as you are. I am sleeping in a spare bedroom and my Jersey Giant is in a rubbermaid box on the floor next to me! I have been a little concerned about her the past few days kind of dragging a little. I've had to clean stuck poop off of her three times, so I kept a sample to take to the vet. I looked at the poop sites, and it looks normal. I've noticed when I wash her that the area under her fluff (see diagram) feels like a balloon. I can't remember if that is normal or not. She doesn't lay, so I don't think an egg would be the culprit. It's either normal or it's cancer! (from looking at sites) When I checked on the chickens this evening, she was in a nesting box and seemed to be breathing a little hard. Despite my heat emitter lamp, it's still very cold in there. I just had "mother's intuition" that I shouldn't leave her out there, so I brought her in, cleaned/blew dry her fluffy region. I'll see if I can get in with the vet on Saturday. I just don't like not knowing if she's ok or not.

Can someone tell me the best place to get coturnix quail hatching eggs in Indiana. I am very excited to use the incubator my Parents bought us for Christmas.. as first timers We will be wanting to hatch everything now.. My Chickens are doing awesome I am getting 100-120 eggs a week even in this awesome Indiana weather. I have not been on the thread a lot in a couple months due to hunting and cutting wood season.. But Hello to everyone I met and have spoken with before.

I don't recall where you are from, but my quail are laying like crazy now. It's too cold to shop but if you want to pick up I have some. Send me a pm

Is that a showgirl or a silkie? and i see a maran on the left :jumpy
it's a silkie. My showgirls all have a bow tie, so they only have one copy of the naked neck gene. So put with a silkie roo, half will hatch out as showgirls the other half as silkies.

great pics! I love cows. I don't think I could raise them that long and then butcher them. Would be hard not to get attached!
