Mine get into stuff they are not suppose to all the time. They are too curious. I have never had them eat insulation before though. I hope they are okay. If everyone is still okay friday and saturday, I would say it didn't really affect them. As that is plenty of time for them to try and digest it.

I lost a special girl like that a little more than a year ago, December 13, 2012. Blizzy. She was one of the few sexlinks I've owned not to succumb to internal laying. I don't know what she had, but I spent a week or two trying to nurse her back to health. She ended up wasting away, and after she passed I wrote quite a lengthy post for her. Several months after she died, I found the little baggy of crumbles I had ground up to wet and feed her through a syringe. I ended up writing another long post about her and I bawled my eyes out the entire time. I continue to think of Blizzy, who was so reliably in the way whenever I was working outside and would scold me in her chickeny way if I dared sass her for it. Thinking of how similar to your Jersey she was brings tears to my eyes even today, so many months after I lost her. Blizzy was a bird I felt privileged to know in person.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that you are not alone. Many of us have been there, and I think most of us can empathize. I know I can.
I have more hens than that. 5 eggs today. Wouldn't know what to do with 18.

RIP Jersey ~ She came to live with us on June 12, 2012 and was put to sleep at the Veterinarian's on January 7, 2014. I was lucky to have her and she was lucky to have me. Jersey was the flock leader, my favorite chicken, and the only one who knew her name and could have a back and forth "conversation." (I'm not sure what we talked about, but she was very engaging!) I will miss her so much!
Diagnosis: Large tumor mass growing, smaller tumors also -- Ovarian Cancer. Egg peritonitis could be secondary, but large tumor was primary problem. I asked the vet about pain since it was difficult to tell. He agreed that it's difficult to know, but typically chickens barely eat or quit eating when they're in pain. Jersey still ate and led the flock around, but not as enthusiastically as she used to do. At least she didn't have to suffer since I first noticed things weren't quite right a few weeks ago, so it hadn't progressed into a really bad condition. I didn't think I'd ever have a chicken in "Freezer Camp," but she's in the vet's freezer until the ground warms enough to bury here at home. (Total bill: $45 fyi) Very reasonable.
