INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hey everyone!
Earlier today I posted about how I might get a barred rock roo and try to incubate some fertile eggs in the spring. I did all my research and I figured why not give it a go? I figured that as a budget, I will only spend money on a thermometer, humidifier, starter feed and feeder, and a chick waterer. Everything else needed I just might have.
I just found this awesome styrofoam/cooler combo with a seal tight latch lid in my basement.
I need opinions if it would be good enough to use as an incubator before I clean it.

Seriously read this but condensed version...
You can hold eggs 7 days and not have any issues.
store them cool, and turn at least 3 x a day.
We have an old, dry and drafty house. Find a room that's warmest and least entered..
I am using my dry pantry.keep incubator closed, watch temps to keep them at 99.5
I now only candle day 1, and lockdown. Day 1 is to look at the eggs to see if there is cracks.
If they are important, expensive.. I will do a day 10 or so candling.
shipped eggs, you are really lucky if you get 50% hatch.
If your house is dry you may need to add water, I dry hatch.
Day 18 raise humidity with sponges. Try to not open the incubator at all.
Ideal humidity is 70% for me at lockdown.
I line the screen with paper towel so they don't hurt their feet.
Newspaper is awful! I avoid it completely.
Don't remove babies until they are dry and have the brooder box ready.
Babies are fine up to 3 days, so don't rush taking them out.
I leave eggs that are late up to 5 days past hatch date.
If you notice odor, CANDLE and look for that egg! Seriously, smell them, pick them up and take a wiff!

easier then cleaning 40+eggs and an incubator.
I set well over 1,000 eggs of several species last year. the 2 that "exploded" (both chicken eggs!) was when I was out of town for several days.

My hatcher #2 is a "chickbator" an old cooler.. Anything that holds an even temp works!
Was it you that posted about ball python? If so, you will have no problem hatching chicks.
They are very attractive and the most personable of all I have had.
So I shouldn't, but anyone interested in going in on an order? I'm only interested in 4-6 chicks but his minimum is 12. Let me know if anyone is interested"

They are beautiful, I wish I could.
The game breeds are really grabbing my attention lately!
My red pyle hen lays almost daily and is an absolute doll.

No, that wasn't me with pythons. I've never hatched chicks before, this will be my first. Just trying to make sure I do everything right!

So according the the almanac's formula tomorrow and Sunday are in the "best" days of the year to set eggs that hatch in 21 days.  Something to do with the moon pattern.  I did not do the actual calculations but the days are listed on a website.

I'm setting tomorrow evening after I get tomorrow's eggs.  Anyone else want to set some eggs too?

I wish I had an incubator! :-( I will be getting one soon though.
