INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

We a lot of hawks around here. We also have quite a few eagles my mom saw a juvenile one this morning. Thank God none have tried to get my chickens! :)

On the home page carousel there's a pic for breeds. What is that very attractive black bird with the white penciling?

Anyone know?

Yep...those are the kind I got at Tractor Supply for similar price. I haven't used any. I keep wondering how hard it will be to cut them off when they need to be removed.

One of our WONDERFUL IN people sent me some of 3 different kinds of bands to try out and see what kind I like! Got them this morning :D

$3 a bag for 100 ties. I didn't think that was too bad.

I'm jealous of all the people that are getting/hatching chicks right now. Can't wait to get some!

It's a lot to deal with in the winter. My silkies are still residing in our den. Since we are having another polar vortex coming, I guess they will stay there longer than I planned.

I know! I'm so ready to park in the garage again! I'm tired of the cold and ready for all the chickens to be outside!

That is a silver double-laced Barnevelder bantam from Greenfire Farms. Aren't they just so impossibly gorgeous? :love Definitely on my wishlist!

We have one thats very bold. Perches in the huge dogwood in the middle of the property.
I see it when I go out and do the night time checks on my coops.
:lau It was a lot of fun
I hope we can have another get together.

My flock now is very small compared to earlier 2000 when I had as many as 67 birds.  I am now down to less than a dozen :( and these are all fairly OLD.  I have 2 beautiful frizzled roo's.  I have a partridge silky hen, a New Hampshire hen, a blue Cochin, a very old white cochin hen, a white leghorn mixed hen and a couple others.  I am getting a pair of white frizzled cochins and am hen sitting 2 buff orpington hens. The four I just mentioned are less than a year old.  I also have a very sick little black frizzled hen who is currently a house hen.  Her name is Friday's GirL and she has a cyst in her reproduction area that is growing and compromising her other organs.  I will be lucky to have her for another month.

It's nice to meet you

It is! I'm iffy on their colors now. They dried off a bit and look lighter. So splash or white maybe. I will be able to tell better tomorrow.

Good luck!
