INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

They have been laying around 4 a day. I usually stick them in the fridge, but I saved this dozen back for someone, now I have to find someone to take them. I hate using silkie eggs for food when so many people are looking for eggs.
Ugh! Why are you doing this too me! Lol. I just got a box full of eggs from Little Ameraucana Mom and received 18 cuckoo silkie eggs today too! I don't think I should set anymore than the 7 1/2 dozen that I have going in tonight!

I want to send a BIG thank you to everyone who met me today on my chicken run! I had 5 stops total! Also thank you to Sally (LAM) for the beautiful blue and black showgirls! I love the little frizzle girl!it was wonderful meeting mother2hens, wheezy, amlambson (I think that is her username lol, typically talk with her on Facebook), and it was great seeing Janet and Sally again!

Lol, I can't believe no one is jumping on these eggs. I have had people asking for them, and now that I have them they are no where to be found. I seriously can't hatch anymore. I don't have a big enough coop for all of them.

And the whole reason for the trip....

Going early, think we are going to add leghorn if they have them. Other than my polish and OEGB I have no white layers.
My leghorns should start laying soon, but they love to fly. And they like to fly at things, including the netting over the run, the feed bucket, or my hood. Thankfully they have not flown at my head when my coat hood was down ~ I don't want chickens in my hair. But these leghorns are good at flying at least 8 ft long distances and 6 ft high jumps.

time for a nice batch of scrambled eggs. I know this time of yr it is hard to believe but egg can do more than hatch chicks. wonderful breads, cookies, soup thickeners, all kinds of uses for eggs besides breakfast or chicks.
Or you could hatch them and try to sell the chicks.

Do you hatch leghorns too? I am really looking for whites. I know I am adding production RIR too, and BR.
DH keeps saying he wants me to get a lot of BRs, he is very partial to Mabel.
My BA and GLW are great fliers too. no problems getting over a 6ft fence. Its too funny when I open the coop.
They are all squawking, flying and acting like crazy birds, racing to the goat, cow and hog pens!
I usually end up with someone on my shoulder

mostly the scovies, or my pearl guinea.

I don't have a leghorn roo, so no leghorn hatching. Once they start laying I have thought about hatching a few mixed chickens but their size compared to my other roosters is not the best match. Still white eggs are more fun to candle so maybe a couple here and there if I notice the eggs being fertile. I have to say the first time I went back into the coop after a few days off due to cold and DH greatly helping by doing the chicken care, I was shocked at how much these leghorns had grown and started flying. They are also the ones that are more likely to be out on a cold day than the production red stars I have.
