INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

How do you all not have panic attacks incubating? I have a styrofoam incubator, but I am petrified to use it.
I'd like to say that it is because I've discovered a serenity that 'what will be, will be'. However, that would imply that I haven't been down to check the conditions in the incubator 3 times in the 2 hours I've been home from work.

However after my first two hatches that went 1/7 each time, I have had to decide that life isn't perfect. I'll make mistakes occasionally, and it will have consequences. I just need to learn from them and not make them needlessly again. I do my best incubating, and try very hard to learn each time I do it. You are going to have eggs that don't make it, and then you will have chicks that don't make it. If you weren't deliberately negligent, then it should just be an unfortunate learning experience. I've had bad luck so far with eggs, but great luck with chicks. Some others on here have just the opposite. One of the greatest things about the thread is the ability to learn and ask for help with no judgement!

On the flip side, I think it is awesome that you care so much right from the start. Your little hatchlings are definitely lucky to hatch in your care. They can be confident you'll do your best for them. I like to think the same for mine.

I am not a nervous person, I am am inpatient person lol. So I don't have to worry about panic attacks, but keeping myself sane while I have to wait 21 days lol. And sorry to hear about all the troubles you are having. Just look at the bright side, lice is an easy to fix, a pain in the butt, but it easier to control a pest than a disease. And with your love, care, and the medicine lily's eye should get better. For the lice sevin dust is an easy fix. Just clean every thing out and dust EVERYTHING. Best of luck!

I never had panic attacks about using my styrofoam incubator until someone took putty in me and offered Silkie eggs at a price I couldn't resist. Now I'm in a major panic! Lol
Lol my bad. ;) Thanks guys, I will still probably keep using broodies until the summer when I may have to hatch more. Until then the scary incubator stays in its box. :)
