I am as close to Lanesville as you can get and still be in Floyd. So not far at all. We looked at property in Elizabeth.

That is cool! I actually live closer to the town (If you wanna call it that lol) of Elizabeth than Laconia but we are listed as Laconia. Maybe you should hold off on the frizzle until I start breeding them lol. Then you could get a LF frizzle buff orpington mixed with a bantam cochin buff orpington. Or just a LF frizzle depending on the sex of the chick I'm getting.
I'm so excited about the chicks. Yipee!!!!

I'm curious how you can tell who laid what. Other than based on color and size. Like, if you have two of each breed.

Right now, I have only 7 hens. My Easter Egger lays a light green egg, my Golden Laced Wyandotte lays a rounded brown egg, Bantam Ameraucana a lovely small blue egg, Appenzeller Spitzhauben a smallish white egg, and my three Cochins lay longer narrow light brown eggs often with speckles. I can not tell which Cochin laid which egg, but I have been keeping track of them as a group. Some days 1 Cochin egg, some days 3...Its not an exact science, lol. All of my new chicks should be easy to tell as well. The 2 Easter Eggers will probably lay different colors and if not they will be grouped, The two Wellsummers might be grouped, and the one Australorp's egg will probably be slightly different than the other brown layers I have. The two bantams I got definitely won't be blue, so that will help too. My kids and I have fun sorting the eggs (they are learning it in school now too) and then charting it each day. Its just a game for us.

I got tired of waiting, so I picked up a chick at the store today. Didn't expect to find any at Wal-green's, but it was only $.99. What breed do you think this one is?

We got 5" of snow overnight... So needless t say Blinky and Waddles(new name for Armelia according to my 2 yr old granddaughter) won't be out today and neither will Diamond nor Earl! Poor babies would have t build a tunnel! Lol

Hey Min! Just realized I hadn't heard about how your hatch went!? My apologies if you did and I just missed it.

They are due to hatch next Sunday, First candle was excellent all were showing growth! Had 1 infertile Silkie egg but all the Marans were great.

You've got a deal. I really want a frizzle *something* just because they're too beautiful. I would rather get a bantam to go with my other bantams. I could take 2. Just holla.

I think I might ask for the Little Giant Still Air Incubator 9200 for my birthday. Is it okay for a beginner's incubator? I don't think I will ever hatch to many but don't want others to pay a ton of money for a little one. Also, I asked how people hang their light over a dog crate brooder but I don't think anyone answered me.
