INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I'd like to officially volunteer to be the T-Shirt organizer!!! I love this idea, and if people would like to email design ideas, or volunteer to help, I'd love that.
The Chicken-Nerd in me has been screaming to find a way to announce it's presence!
I know nothing about graphic design, but have lots of artist friends that would help.
I can take everyone's ideas, do mock ups of different styles and then maybe I can set up a poll to narrow down the designs. That way we can have a few choices without there being 10 different ones on Cafe Press.

I can tie dye them too if anyone wants tie dye!!

WOW! I LOVE IT!!!! Seriously envious!! I have been researching turkey housing needs ever since meeting Racinchickins turkeys

. Is turkey math a thing? I am trying to figure out an EASY way to put something together that would last at least the first year. I can't handle any more MAJOR projects this year and could build/buy something better next year.

I have 40 more trees (to replace my screen poplars that didn't survive the winter) and 35 plants/shrubs getting delivered sometime (online nurseries won't give you a delivery date....seriously miffed about that since I am a planner and can't plan around no date), bee hives to build and a ridiculous amount of mulch to lay and grass seed to get down. Oh, and two huge garden beds to prep and plant! My list has improved....but this rain and mudd is cramping my plans and I want to get everything finished before it gets wicked hot! And now I have TURKEY MATH!!!!! My lack of time and money may keep me at frustrated bay from moving forward.
There is ABSOLUTELY such a thing as turkey math. I have eggs in the bator and an order coming from Porters later this year. It as great meeting you to! Always fun to meet other BYCers

And I just bought 6 lemon cuckoo and 6 lavender cuckoo bantam cochin eggs......I really have an addiction!
Yes. You. Do. And coming here is like an alcoholic asking the local tavern for help.

I've been tossing around the idea of an Indy BYCr meetup, but some of the BYCrs that I KNOW are in Indy haven't posted recently (toodlesmom, vickichickie, etc)
Maybe we'll have to meet at Jockamos for pizza and beer sometime in the near future.
That sounds great. A chance to talk chickens with no chicken poop involved! Don't forget those of us who don't have Indy addresses, but live very close.

So, incase people are getting stressed out a out the price of coops, remember that anything that will keep them dry and out from the wind will likely work great as a coop. Example: my 3 clearance $15 or $20 dog houses!
400

400

Obviously they aren't going to work for a lot of birds, but I have a trio of tolbunts in one, 5 bantam Cochins in another and,y pair of LF in the other.

Wow, I have been missing all the fun. I just found this thread.

I am lookin for some silkie hens to go with my newly acquired silkie too... Anyone want to part with two or some hatching eggs?

I've been either selling or setting all my silkie eggs and have orders to fill this week. But I can let you know when I have more eggs. Otherwise, check with kabhyper here on the thread. For an adult, get with Little Ameraucana Mom also on the thread. Her birds are absolutely amazing! Also if you are on Facebook, look up Tami Miller Hamm. She was downsizing and also had nice looking adult silkies available.

And welcome to the thread!

Wow pipd! Congrats to you and your lovely lady! Quite the accomplishment! Does she still lay for you?

And the million dollar question...

Does she still lay?

To answer you both, no. Her last egg was last summer and she hasn't started laying yet this spring. But that's okay, because she's had 8 years of egg laying up to this point. :)

Pipd ~ I remember reading your essay on Frou-Frou, which was wonderfully written. I support your effort to write a beginner's guide to genetics. Be sure to add lots of visual aids for people like me whose eyes start glazing over when reading technical information. We had a new member not too long ago who is a genetic scientist-- maybe even for chickens. It's one of those MANY posts that I should have made a note about. :he

I must not have been here, or I just blanked it! I don't remember anyone like that!

Anyway, what I think I'll do is post parts of the article here so that y'all can read and tell me how understandable my work is. :) Like with my first aid kit page, I want to make sure it's perfect for the purpose I'm making it.
