H, neighbors! I'm Laura and I live in Porter, IN. When DH and I bought a house here, we had plenty of friends already living here and a few of them also had chickens. I was told we could keep up to 6. So I got 6 :). But now I've learned that isn't exactly true :(. And, of course, aside from the money we put into them and their awesome accommodations - we love these birds! I love them. So I'm trying to get the town ordinance changed. Our next council meeting is in a couple days, so... Wish me luck!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!!! human moms and animal moms!!

Got our garden planted. Lots of work in this one! Glad it's done and now we have some rain showers heading our way. Not soon enough my newly seeded alfalfa field really needs the rain. Brought home the Wheaton Marans lastnight and they are doing great. 6 eggs out of 10 birds is not to bad.

Here are two Maran eggs next to my golden comet eggs.
Nice color to them. I'm going to collect the first bunch and try to incubate them.

Well my tolbunts are hatching like crazy! I will have 2 chicks available if anyone is interested in them. They are just day olds. Pm for more info. Now as a disclaimer, this is a rare and expensive breed. That said, I feel I'm asking a fair price for them considering their going rates. I'll also have a bielefelder roo and possibly a pullet (several weeks apart in age), possibly a couple older legbar roos (gotta get pics to racin still), several pairs or trios of legbars (day to week olds), beardless white silkie, porcelain d'uccle cockerels coming out my ears, blue bantam cochin cockerels, and a Birchen Marans/legbar mix. Pm for details and prices.

I have to say, from what I have seen of your pricing, it is more than fair. Every so often I'll get a complaint about my pricing of pullets. But with the price of feed, the cost of chicks, and availability of certain breeds, chickens are not cheap or free. I had a person calling to ask if I had free chicks kind of like free kittens. If I end up hatching more sex linked chicks maybe the day old roosters would be 2/$1 but not free.

Those are cool looking birds Brad, but I still am not sold on the pompom tops lol. or NN's not just yet anyways.

Wow!that was quite a storm! Looked out my window to see my lawn roller rolling across the lawn! I guess I drained it a day too early! The rain was coming from the south, so it was pouring in my back sliding patio door! Never had that happen. Guess I need to look into a new door or sealing it better. Glad it has stopped for now, but looks like it's going to be off and on for the next couple days!

Hi to all my new Indiana friends. I just got several new chickens this weekend and was wondering if you guys could help tell me what some of them are. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

This is Pricilla, she came with a polish rooster and she lays white eggs. I was hoping she was also a polish, but her comb is not V shaped and her puff on top of her head isn't anything near what the roo's is. She's also very small.

This is peanut butter, he is a bantum roo, but not sure what kind?

This is Merida and Madilyn they are about a week old, have no idea what they are?

My other Bantum roo. White leghorn? But he has a rose comb.

Any info can help. I am wanting to mate some of them with others of the same breed to get as close to pure as I can. Thanks
