I think they are adorable, who cares if they are mutts! Can you eat the eggs? Then they have a purpose. I am supper excited about my mixed eggs in the incubator (first time ever). I might have a NHR or they may all be mixed. I don't care, because I love eggs

Thank you. These came from our first attempt at incubating. Out of 34 eggs we had 26 hatch. I don't eat a lot of eggs and I don't eat chicken, never have, even before I owned chickens, but every one else in the family does, so they still have a purpose. Plus I really enjoy them, I consider them my daily therapy session. Good luck with your hatch.

I may have found a home for Gus and Jules, If someone on here was interested in them, please let me know asap. I would prefer someone taking them that I sort of know. They are pets so I want them to go to a good home. He is a gentle boy. He is used to ducks and livestock. I am focusing on my cochins, so I need to cut back on my flock. Jules is queen of the flock and Gus is king, so Its time to let some others step up. He is good with people, but will notice if you change shoes. He has checked me, but not attacked. We carry him around like a dog and he is very respectful of his owners. I also want him going to a home with experience handling large roos. Thanks

How much experience do you have with large roosters and rooster behavior? These are our pets, so we are being cautious about who we let them go to. No offense, it's just a part of my screening process with any boys, but Gus is a BIG boy. Gentle or not, he needs an experienced owner.

I don't have any experience with BIG roosters. The chickens I had in the past were banties, and the cockerel I have now is 6 or 7 pounds. If you're not comfortable with it I understand. It's probably for the better anyway, since I would need to build a separate pen for them.

Yeah. Thanks for offering, but he is kinda like a big dog. Kinda like someone who is used to Yorkies taking in a mastiff. I think I'll just wait and see if someone with big roo experience is interested in him. Until then, he stays here. He isn't trouble for us, we just need to focus on our LF Cochins and that means more boys, and since Gus isn't needed for breeding for us, he will go to a new home when the right one comes along.

I get it. But I'm gonna have to figure it out soon since I'm raising brahmas lol. Oh well. I was gonna use him to breed blue laced silvers but I'm not dying to have another roo on my little property lol. I'm gonna have to decide for sure what I want to breed.

Ok, SallyinIndiana, can you remind me (I'm bad with this...lol) how old are the "ducklings I got from you when I made the trip back in ???March? Or was it February? Lol told you I'm bad about that, hehehe. I keep half expecting to open their box in the morning and be bombarded by a dozen eggs. They are such sweet babies! My Grandchildren gifted me with two more Khaki Cambells about 6 wks ago so the flock of ducks is more than complete...lol my husband just noticed Saturday that there are four ducks waddling around the yard, he's so observant! At what age do ducks start laying?
