INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Dad is in the hospital, ICU. We had him taken by ambulance last night. He was in congestive heart failure. His valve has calcified to the point it wasn't allowing blood flow more than a trickle. They ballooned the valve, twice and was able to get it opened enough to allow somewhat normal passage. He is on oxygen, and they are trying to get him drained out of all the fluids. He was having allergic type symptoms last 2 days, but when he started having chest pains and panting we called 911.
FDA still has not approved the 29MM replacement valve needed to do his surgery. He has an unusually large aortic valve, thats the hold up. They currently only allow a 26mm valve. Dr said he is stable for now but needs the surgery soon. It is supposed to pass FDA in July so fingers crossed. The alternative valve is too high of risk, it would mean open heart. He is 80 and Dr feels he couldn't survive the procedure. Please, keep my Dad in your prayers.

jchny2000/Janet, barb s, and I have been working on getting the details together for the Chickenfest! I made this announcement below (quality is limited on this website!), which I'll post occasionally with updates. Barb is going to PM the announcement to members who haven't been on the thread lately.

There are some things up for discussion that you can read about below.

Neat flyer/ poster! I appreciate you guys doing all this organizing and planning. Takes a lot of work! I just hope I can make it this year!

The bees seem to be doing good. Both hives have them coming in and out of the reduced entrance! Earlier when I placed them in the hives I forgot my feeder box for the top (I use mason jar feeders they stick up so you need to add another deep box for the lid to fit right). So I let them settle for a few hours and I just went out to add the feeder box and feeders to them. They seem to have settled down and not so quick to dive bomb me this time lol. I pray these bees do well this time, I will throw in the towel if they die out again this fall. I love honey and really want this to work out but man the cost of replacing bees and getting no return is not worth it. Anyways as of right now they seem to enjoy their new home and they have plenty of clover/alfalfa to thrive on.

Every one of you that's posted and sent PMs, thank you so much. Prayers are helping he had slight improvement today. Is still in ICU. His numbers are improving and oxygen levels are rising finally. My Dad is of strong faith, and I am truly grateful for all your thoughts.
