INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Found Pipd's article thanks! Duh to me, that is what the search bar is for!
If anyone else needs it here is the link: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/...dy-and-essential-supplies-and-how-to-use-them
In addition, there are helpful links on our Indiana BYCers Page. The link is always at the bottom of my message -- jchny, bradselig, and others also include the link -- Indiana BYC'ers Members, Events, & Links bradselig/Brad and CRSelvey/Cheryl have worked on updating it. There's a section of medical links, too.
Here's some other helpful info:
Chicken Health For Dummies Cheat Sheet - For Dummies
amwchicken~ As far as your roo's eyes, I read the following info on: Chickens with eye infections - ThePoultrySite Discussion Forum You can "unstick" the eyes by gently holding a hot, moist towel on the eyes (most birds usually enjoy the heat and will sit happily for you while you hot pack them). Then, flush the eyes with some warm saline or (even better) colloidal silver drops. Once the eyes are open, flush with some more saline/colloidal silver (most health food stores have this) or put some polysporin drops in the eyes. Some other excellent antibiotics for the eyes include: fucithalmic ointment (best), gentocin/garamycin (really good!) and chloramphenicol (great!).

I had 5 cockerels when I first started with chickens and they did lots of sparring/chest bumps, but that's all.

Did you use instagram or a filter on your photos? They're very vibrant.

yesterday morning I woke up because Steve (My fiance) wouldn't wake up...his work was calling him and it woke ME up. So, I got up all mad and threw something at him. He still didn't wake up. Well, he's hard to wake up, so I went over and yelled at him and kinda pushed him a bit. He still didn't wake up. So I slapped the **** out of him and yelled at him right in his ear to wake up (I was really getting scared at this point. I'd noticed he was cyanotic and had some vomit or foamy spit in the corner of his mouth and he was breathing 2 or 3 times a minute...very rattley and strained). I told him if he didn't wake up I was going to call 911. He still didn't wake up, and I called 911, getting more and more panicked. Of course the baby wakes up, so I sent the big boys in with him (We also had my stepson there...sigh). A bajillion firefighters show up...to the house across the street. I had to yell at them to get them over. They loaded him up and said he was too unstable to go to St. V's , where he works, and took him to Community North. Apparently sometime in the night he'd vomited and aspirated it, and so he was unconcious from the low oxygenation from the pneumonia. So now he's in the ICU. Maybe he will be out today. He started sorta waking up around 3PM, and stayed up for about 2 hours. He still isn't staying very oxygenated on room air though. And of course he doesn't think he's very sick.

Oh NO. Oh, thank God he woke up. You scared me, although I know it was nowhere near the terror you experienced. I hope he recovers swiftly to full health and that you and the kids weren't permanently traumatized.
