INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

He is gorgeous!!!! I am really interested in this breed for the future but plan on only hatching with broodies.  I'll have to reach out the next time I have a broody :D

CHICKCRAZED--
We have a broody that we'd love to break. I offer her warm hinnie to hatch some Iowa Blues for you.
She's been broody since March and shows no signs of stopping.
Would love to get that out of her system. :)

Wow you are the definition of an enabler!!! Ha ha. Let me think about it. As much as I would LOVE some of those Iowa Blues I have a broody on 6 eggs right now to break HER and I'm running low on space!!!!

My broody BLRW has been dutifully sitting on her eggs for 2 days now in her very own maternity ward. I have yet to see her get up to eat or drink but I am going to trust that she knows to take care of herself. She is sitting on four eggs that are either pure Crested Cream Legbar or Crested Cream Legbar/Mottled Java mix and two Barred Rock eggs that have either a Crested Cream Legbar or Mottled Java daddy. I figure if she mucks this up I won't feel as bad about her messing up with mixed eggs, and I am intrigued by what these mixes are going to look like!!!!

Chickenfest:
Right now I am thinking I will probably bring some Gluten Free mac-n-cheese and a gluten free dessert. (we have 2 gluten free in my family!). May add to that, too tired to think beyond that right now!

HOPING TO WRAP UP THE OFFICIAL TSHIRT DESIGN!!! (This is also posted on the Tshirt thread) Indiana BYC t-shirt thread

lilmizcareall has asked me to post the winning design on these Tshirt color options as well as an option to have the design on the back instead of the front. Once again, you can vote on your favorite and PM me since I will be the one to prepare the files and take care of ordering.

In a normal Tshirt ordering situation, one shirt option and its pricing would be posted-- because you can't please everyone.

However, we're trying to offer a lot of input from our members. Since time is a factor, though, I need everyone interested to PM me BY 5:00pm ET MONDAY, JULY 7th so I can get final pricing and start taking orders.

Please PM me with your Tshirt Color favorite:
Red
Green
Black

And whether you like the design on the:
Front
Back

NOTE: An example of the design on the Tshirt back is shown on the Black Tshirt, but it can be used on the red and the green shirts as well.

I will post the results of this survey at 6pm ET Monday, July 7th.

Thank you

here is a post full of pictures for @Leahs Mom

The breeding pen / open air coop that is a bit too small. We are selling it at cost on CL.

One of the slightly larger breeding pens that we will use as tractors this summer but in our pole barn during the winter as breeding pens. It has a nice large exterior nesting box but no chicken door to connect to a run.

One door is not painted as I was considering color coding the pens by a door color.

Not sure why this is sideways. But it is the door. The feeder can be filled while standing outside of the pen but with the door open. I would prefer a feeder that can be filled with the door closed so there is no chance of a chicken escaping on me in sub 0 weather.

The back of the pen.

The cat from @ellymayRans

The turkeys that were part of @racinchickins turkey order. No blue or grey feathers yet but I'm holding on to hope. 1 is clearly smaller than the others. 2 are clearly larger than the other 2. This leads me to think I have at least 1 female and 2 males.

Some of my reds and a CCL that are growing out.

The juvie CCL rooster and parts of another CCL hen, RIR hen, and Bresse hens.

The cat checking out / herding the chickens. The chickens are terrified of this little kitten.

My RIR pen with a couple BR and a RS tossed in. The RIR on the bar is the one whose color is too light, shape is to skinny, and has way too much lacing in the tail. The rooster is a survivor of the 2013/2014 extreme winter, his comb almost made it.

Editing to add the waterers in the pens with the bright red lids. They came from premier one after I saw Racin...'s and I really really prefer them to any of the other watering systems we have in place.

An update on my babies! :D They had a trip outside today, which they were clearly not eager about. All 7 of them were piled on me. (And yes, one of them even pooped in my lap. )

:hugs Thank you all for the condolences about my hen, Pace. She had a long and hopefully happy life here. She was old, and I think it was just her time, so I'm at peace with her passing now.

Well you n I both lost babies last night. Mine was one of my white TSC Silky chicks. She was 5wks old...so my baby has your angel baby to watch out for her oin chicken heaven. Sorry for your loss!

:hugs So sorry. It's hard to lose any of them, but especially when they're so small. :hugs

Lol. How many do you want?!?

Ooooh, you enabler! I'll think about it.

Chicken fest attenders.  For the pot luck dish, I think I'll bring a large garden salad with cheese and dressing options on the side.   I'm also thinking cookies but they will be from the store bakery if there is a heat wave on Thurs and Friday the 17-18th.

Ok so adding to the "potluck" menu. I was thinking of bringing a Four Bean salad, Beef BBQ (in a crock pot) with buns for sandwiches, and some kind of desert possibly a cake maybe? At least there's a meat dish and salad.
If no one objects the cake will b made a few days in advance and then frozen so it will transport better and hopefully the frosting won't melt off of it.

I am planning on bringing home made potato salad, possibly some frosted sugar cookies as well if the potato salad doesn't do me in.

Well, I'll jump in here as well. :) Because I'm so far away and we'll probably be in the vehicle that doesn't have AC, I was going to bring cookies or cupcakes, something that won't be 'off' from the heat. I might also bring along some home grown tomatoes if we have a lot of them by then. A few of my vines are loaded with them, but all green still! :th
