I holler WEEEEWEEEES chickies chikies~~~~!!!!
they know that means bucket and food! I have a sea of feathers and beaks running towards me.
Oh my. Poor piglets! I would have gladly rehomed them allOf all things!!! My Chickee got t play on th freeway! Lol. The reason was unfortunate though. A semi carrying a load of Piglets rolled over. There were piglets running everywhere! Of course there were several not so fortunate t b able t run around but you couldn't help but laugh at the State Police officers and animal control staff trying t catch them. The driver had a little road rash on his shoulder but other than that it wasn't too bad. So now it will b 11 before I get t th campgrounds. Ugh!!!!Glad the driver was ok!![]()

Do you know what happens when a Granfathered animal dies? Just wondering for the whole indianapolis situation. Can that animal be replaced or is that it? Pigs are easy, but certainly not "cleaner" by any means! Seriously tho, you have to come up and visit. They are like a pet, raised well and loved. It makes me cry to process ours, they are just too sweet. My hog Wilbur is about 300 lbs now, will go very soon. It upsets me a lot, hope to add a few sows next year so I can keep some year around. Wilbur was supposed to be a boar, we were "taken" on that one. I really like the yorkshire the best for temperament. So far all that I have had were just exceptional and easily handled. They get all my extra eggs, and a lot of scraps including anything left from processing birds. I do not waste anything we process here. Package everything ourselves, and OH MY what an amazing difference. My Mom and Sis thought I had cooked steaks for dinner. It was pork steak.
You had me at Rise & Roll....Once the shirts arrives, how will I pick which of the 7 days left to wear it?!? Let us know which day you're attending & we'll look for you & your shirt!
If anyone comes to the Elkhart Co. fair, stop by the Bunny Hut food booth (best food at the fair -- fresh salads & subs made to order, bunny burgers & brats, mashed potatoes, noodles, Rise & Roll cinnamon rolls & doughnuts...we also have the lowest priced food -- every year lots of our customers tell us that.) Anyways, stop by the Bunny Hut because there's a good chance either my daughter Chloe or I (or son Benji) will be working in there (I'll be wearing my project leader name tag/ribbon every day even if I don't have my chicken shirt!) And if anyone wants to hear Chloe's Illustrated Talk it will be late Tuesday afternoon (pm me for details). She'll also be doing it at the State Fair the first Friday of the fair.![]()
I have two guineas I bought at rural king this spring I'd like to sell if anyone is interested. I have no idea if they're boys or girls though.
I'll probably have some pullets and or hens available soon too.
Depending on your location, I am interested in the guineas.
It's not too late to come to Chickenfest!
I've been busy preparing for Chickenfest! This evening I was making paper garlands, name tags, stickers, signs, packaging prizes, etc. My DH observed my devotion to the honor of chickens --lol--and said that he needs to form a Support Group for Spouses/Partners of BYC Indiana Members! haha He was just kidding me-- he enjoys the flock and know that I enjoy the thread. As I was working on Chickenfest, it reminded me of kinds the things I did for my kids' PTA/school events through the years. No wonder I went into "event mode" and started churning things out.
DH and I are leaving for Indy on Friday-- staying with friends Friday and Saturday nights and visiting DD on Sunday. I will bring Tshirt orders to people attending Chickenfest, but I won't have time to mail the others until Monday. I apologize, but besides Chickenfest, I've had actual job-work to do, so I'm my usual sleep-deprived self. Looking forward to a fun weekend.

Great Job re your Indy Rezoning letter! I will print a copy of it to bring to Chickenfest as a reminder to people about sending in their comments.
[rule]Oh that is so sad for those pigs! Last time I was in Indy a double decker truck full of pigs was in front of me and I was about to cry. They are so intelligent and are treated so cruelly.
And yes, I eat pork. I'll stop after Chickenfest. ![]()
I'm glad that the accident wasn't worse as far as people are concerned, too. Hope you have a safe remainder of your trip, Minminme. And stop posting on the thread while you're driving!!! ![]()
You had me at Rise & Roll....
Yup! We call it the same thing. If you have any of the cinnamon sugar topping left from the box (sometimes it gets licked clean around here) it goes really good in coffee! Still not 100 sure which day we're coming. I'm trying for Sunday, but we'll see what happens.Yeah, I corrupted my husband's family when they were out here last month. I bought the doughnuts for the kids for a late night snack & one of the uncles had to get more for breakfast the next morning!! Let me know when you're coming & I'll personally serve you your dose of Amish Crack (as it's fondly referred to around here!)![]()
