INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Yup! We call it the same thing. If you have any of the cinnamon sugar topping left from the box (sometimes it gets licked clean around here) it goes really good in coffee! Still not 100 sure which day we're coming. I'm trying for Sunday, but we'll see what happens.
oooh...another excuse to buy them....

Got a text from my daughter with their 4-H project awards (I haven't made it out to the fairgrounds yet -- still pulling weeds)

Her foods project (create you own snack with marketing plan) is going to state fair. Her rabbit poster (same subject as her illustrated talk -- raising rabbits for food during WWII) is also going to state! Honors on her sewing & achievement record book. My son's sewing project (sweatpants & sweatshirt jacket) is also going to state fair & reserve champion on his rabbit poster. So proud of them! Rabbit ambassador contest events begin today -- Breed ID & Knowledge tests. Monday is showmanship, Tuesday is illustrated talk (which Chloe finally finished preparing about 2:00 am this morning!)

Oh -- also got a new pullet egg today!
Congrats on all counts!

And..
It's the bunny burgers that are calling my name. (Sorry Rise & Roll...you're just not my style :D) I don't remember if I've ever had rabbit before but I've wanted to try it. That just may be the item that motivates me to come...

Do you know if there are any days that you can get in free or reduced entrance? I think Sunday...but is there any other time? Maybe I can pass of a Senior discount :D The ages vary so much on what they define as "senior"

Once the shirts arrives, how will I pick which of the 7 days left to wear it?!? Let us know which day you're attending & we'll look for you & your shirt!

If anyone comes to the Elkhart Co. fair, stop by the Bunny Hut food booth (best food at the fair -- fresh salads & subs made to order, bunny burgers & brats, mashed potatoes, noodles, Rise & Roll cinnamon rolls & doughnuts...we also have the lowest priced food -- every year lots of our customers tell us that.) Anyways, stop by the Bunny Hut because there's a good chance either my daughter Chloe or I (or son Benji) will be working in there (I'll be wearing my project leader name tag/ribbon every day even if I don't have my chicken shirt!) And if anyone wants to hear Chloe's Illustrated Talk it will be late Tuesday afternoon (pm me for details). She'll also be doing it at the State Fair the first Friday of the fair.

@ Leahs Mom: I typed that wrong -- its actually bunny BBQ instead of burgers, but still very yummy! Some people think it tastes like pulled pork sandwiches.

Seniors are 62 & over. You have about 45 minutes to get in free yet (until 3:00 pm)! Tuesday is another sr citizen day until 3pm. Advance tickets were on sale until yesterday. Sunday is the only free day. Admission is $8 and kids 9 and under are free. Parking is free. There is a new app this year called Elkhart County Fair that you can download with all the fair info, maps, schedule, etc.

oh -- and there's a Bengal Tiger Encounter this year with 4 tigers and a newborn cub

Hmmm... I don't qualify for Sr. Maybe I could pass for under 9... Okay, never mind.

guess you just have to come on Sunday
I just want to eat rabbit. Want to try it. Sometimes I consider learning how to raise meat rabbits...
rabbits are pretty easy to raise -- you should come by our place for a visit sometime. I don't think we're too far from each other.

My Dh was joking the other day about raising rabbits. I showed him a few of the rabbit pictures including some from M2H's facebook page. Turns out he did not know rabbits were that large. So it is now on our list of animals to look at next year at the Bartholomew County Fair. We typically avoid the state fair, but the Bartholomew fair is early enough it is not scorching hot yet.
I'm 99% sure Dh will never get a rabbit, but I'm also sure he will keep pestering for one in a fun jester way.
