INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I kept forgetting to order one, but finally did today- a Brinsea EcoChic 20 heater for the brooder. Anyone else use one?

I use the one from Premier. Love it. Would never want to use a heat lamp again. (I didn't get the cover. They love sitting on top too :D )

So...I'm thinking you are going to love the EcoGlow!

Not quite yet. The 21st is the winter solstice this year (shortest day of the year). So very soon we will start to see days getting longer!!

See, I knew that solstice hadn't happened yet - which is why I was so caught off guard by how light it was -- I am so used to making the drive in absolute darkness --- that'll teach us to get a late start (barely made the tardy bell for DS)

Awesome -- great work!!

2 more days til winter solstice & then slowly, but surely -- almost hard to believe that it's time already for the days to start lengthening! Hopefully the winter will seem shorter & not drag on this year since we've had such a mild December compared to last year.

We were just talking about that today at work - about fear that we may be in for a nasty "surprise" still for winter since we've been lucky so far. I work for a Heating Assistance program, so that nasty surprise would mean a major impact on the workload as this mild winter has made for a lot of folks not being too motivated to make it to their appointments, etc - bad weather makes for some crazy days for us.

Other than the snow removal people and maybe the plumbers for frozen pipes, I'm sure many are thankful for the mild winter. I'm sure that there are others whose jobs pick up in the snowy weather but I for one prefer the mild winters compared to last year's North Pole.

Business is better for me in the winter the colder it is the more work we have.( spray foam insulation) but I do prefer the milder winter because the chores at home are a lot easier. My chickens are happier too without snow on the ground

I've bn told I haven't bn on here in a while, guess between being sick with the flu, getting a Sympathetic Nerve Block for Neuropathy in rt leg, and trying to "make" Christmas presents its bn a very busy few weeks! My birds are all doing ok, no major issues, but like many others very few eggs, lol.
Only two days of very light snow so far this season. (Hope I didn't just jinx myself.)
Missed Ya all glad SOME things don't change. Welcome to all the new peeps to the thread!!! Hope this means Chickenfest is going to be an even bigger success in 2015.
Have bn looking forward to getting together again.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
(In case I'm not back in time to wish
It later this week. Lol) take care and
Ttyl

Here is what Indiana BYC'ers is all about and special thanks to @atrueb00 and @Mother2Hens working to create the article.
I am sorry I have been mia lately! Got big news... 1. I got a job at a company that makes baking products, and as some of you know, I love to bake! 2. I moved to Terre Haute last weekend and started the job on Monday. I have a ton of family in and around TH and love being so close to them all. 3. Officially tied the knot with DH on December 8. Married my best friend and so happy right now! 4. I have been reunited with my chickens! (And it feels so good ;))

Is it my imagination, or was it light just a little bit earlier today? (or maybe it's just that the boy and I were running a little behind schedule and making our trek to town for work and school a little later than normal, lol)

Had the same thought after work, but dismissed it as I am still getting used to Eastern time zone. Glad it wasn't just me!
