You guys...
You are my dearest friends, so many of you I think of as family

May you and your families have a very MERRY AND BLESSED CHRISTMAS! Please be safe traveling to see loved ones today. My sister is hosting this year so I won't be cooking the "big meal"

But I will still have a small traditional gathering Sunday for my kids .
The barn is cleared enough to pull our JD tractor in with the forks on, so excited!!!!

DH is laying out the plans for my breeder pens now. Incubator is getting turned on lol, my MGB has laid another egg

Cannot tell you how excited I am to finally be able to separate and breed my preferred types. I will still have a "wild bunch" for eggs, but not near the size group we had kept that last few years. Off hatching season they will comingle but I plan to focus on my favorites this year. Feeling very focused on what my long term plans are.
Off to catch up!

Quote: All roosters have a teenager stage. I wait it out to see how the adult roo acts. Most roosters realize smoozing a lady hen works a lot better than attacking them. Those rare boys that don't learn.. they get a harder lesson, I won't let it go on very long before the rooster goes to the freezer. I tolerate a human aggressive rooster more than one that will hurt the hens he is there to protect. I had more issues with my GLW roosters, sadly. Gorgeous large roosters, just very mean to hens and people too.

This is one of two black orpingtons I have from last years hatch. They are both very nice looking and nice temperament. I only need to keep one around but I just keep hanging on to both thinking someone will want to improve or want new blood line. Either one would show very well too. I am hatching out new years and 2 more hatches after so I need to do something very soon. If you are interested PM me .....these pic are of the same rooster hatched in May 20014
I will PM you, always looking to add Orps to my egg flock.
