INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Thanks for all of the kind words! My kids (5 and almost 9) are going stir crazy for more chickens. We have 6 still but they really won't supply enough eggs when they start laying again. No more ducks though. I spent a LOT of time researching the perfect breed for our family AND lucked out with a mle and female. Got way too attached :-\ .
Our local Rural King, TSC, and Orschlens will be stocked again, I'm sure...I tend to go a little chicken crazy when this happens.

Wanted to share a few pics of some of the boys. They are turning out so beautiful.
This is Oliver, he is an olive egger I think. He is an easter egger/ black copper marans mix. He is just apsolutely handsome.

This little guy has to be one of my favorite bantam cochins. His name is Thor, he also has a twin named Loke. I just love his bubbled butt. For any of you cochin peolpe out there how does he look? I was thinkng of letting my daughter show him in 4-h this summer. We are very new to this and don't know exactlly what to look for.

And these guys are the newest members of Chick Commander Farm. They are just gourgous. I especially like the darker girl for her coloring and lacing. Their names ar Mufasa (roo), Sarabie, and Nala. What do you guys think about them?

What color would these guys be considered?

I am on the look out for some hatching eggs or baby chicks. I would be willing to drive a little bit ( I live in southern Indiana, Bedford). Here's my list
1.Rhode Island Whites
2.Salmon Faverolles
3. Light Sussex
4. Delaware
5. White rock

I would really love to get something from a fellow BYC friend. If anyone has anything available or knows someone who does please let me know.
Thanks

Really not looking forward to the next few days. So cold!!! By time I had all the water changed this morning, some had begun refreezing, ugh. Upped the protein by mixing game chick starter in the feed and giving them whole corn before dusk. MY OEGB will eat a whole corn kernel, pretty surprised to see that! They are sure scarfing up the mealworms too. I need a warm enough day to pull all my bins out and divide up into more bins. I won't do it in the garage its too dusty and I don't want that dust in any of the house. Mealies are still thriving just growing slower in the garage.
My pekin are laying regularly again, but the eggs are froze by time I find them. My blue swedish don't appear to be laying yet, but the drake is finally maturing. Have some hit and miss goose eggs showing up, but seem to be laid early mornings and also froze by time I find them, ugh! I am still shopping pluckers also.. DH insists he can build one. I do believe he can, but when will he

(lol sorry DH)? So I have my heart set on 2 models, @racinchickins has a very well built one I am impressed with. Its probably going to be the way I go. Absolutely adding the water reservoir and clear door to my sportsman this year.

I am surprised to hear your flocks are still laying! We haven't gotten any eggs in weeks. We don't have a light on each of the flocks, but for the ones we do this is pretty disappointing. Going to have to buy eggs from the store soon if they don't start laying again!

I'm up to 11 eggs a day out of 16 hens, my basket runneth over! And I don't even eat eggs lol.
