Okay, so my husband is freaking out a bit because the chicks in the incubator are moving the eggs that haven't hatched yet around. Any advice on this? Is it ok?

this is normal...i believe they call it rocking and rolling...its just the bird trying to unzip itself and moving around the egg...i hatched out 11 so far and one is still drying off in the hatcher....also

easter is just right around the corner and everyone has heard of pysanky egg art...so i met gail a local michigan bycer and gave her close to 400 eggs....and she is to make egg art out of them...so i was telling you guys about the magazine that i was going to be in with my eggs....so here it is...check it out...im so pumped....

I could be wrong but I think they stop and rest while trying to hatch, so it could still be alive. And I believe it is normal for the already hatched chicks to knock around the unhatched ones. It is normal and usually fine.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind posts and PMs. Sorry for the lack of personal response, but I did read through everything. Having a hard time with losing my Violet, she was so young and such a big sweetheart. I may have to invest in more Bielefelders. I just loved her so much and I'm really missing her.


Not having enough sleep is not helping my mood, either. But that's probably because my new alarm clock has no snooze button. Have I mentioned the alarm clock? Her name is Frou-Frou.

Just for some smiles, here is Miss Frou a few mornings ago, the little brat. She starts honking around 6:30 - 7 am, but she gets REALLY LOUD as soon as she realizes I'm awake.

"Are you awake yet?"



"Good! Now, about breakfast..."



This goofball actually laid an egg today while I was at class!

It's tiny, as always, but it's the thought that counts, right? I had to chuckle about it, too. She is usually so particular about where she lays, she must have had a hissy fit before she finally accepted she had no choice of location!

Sorry for the confusion. The hawk hasn't actually caught anyone since Saturday, when it got my little Vespa. Sweet Violet seemed to have been set into heart failure from the stress of the attack, though. That's what she ended up passing away from.

I do have Guinea fowl, but they're a good 50 feet away from the chicken coop. I might have to think about moving them closer, though...

I'm so sorry about your sweet Violet. I know she was one of your favorite girls. When you are ready for more Bielies let me know and I will hook you up.

Received my sportsman today! Can't wait to get home and get it plugged in! I did notice the door has a dent in it from shipping. I've emailed the seller to see how they will rectify the issue. I'm hoping they just send a new door. And if that's the case I'd love to just pay the difference and upgrade to the full clear door. We will see!

Here is my silly little flock surpise. I hatched a few mixed flock eggs not too long ago and got her. I think she looks blue cream, but I don't have lavender in my flock, soooo, it's a mystery.

I'm going to breed them to him this summer... if anyone wants hatching eggs.
