Tomorrow licking down my eggs, should I take them out of the turner tonight or wait till tomorrow?

Sorry, but this just made me laugh! Have you noticed that the different breeds of eggs have different flavors when you lick them?!

Sending you BIG hatching vibes! If its not a definite clear, it goes back into the bator here! The distance the eggs traveled would worry me too.

I wish it were that easy! You can't candle the darned things but I'm keeping my hopes up. . Well a bit of hope anyway!!

I think they get their eggs from Townline, but I don't know if all RKs get them from the same hatchery or just the last one we knew for sure. Martinsville has been the only one I've visited that had Welsummers ordered, but you could special order/request them, and the store will get them in. Also, if you're willing to wait and I'm able to make this happen, I'd like to breed the pair I have next spring. I'm wanting to wait and see what they grow up like, but I'm optimistic so far. Really hoping they're close to type and lay big dark eggs, but hatcheries being hatcheries, I won't know until she starts laying. Plus, the breed as a whole is rather less than predictable where the color of its eggs are concerned (speckles vs no speckles, depth of color and such). 

Okay thanks for the information. I had read that Estes hatchery supplies some farm stores and and they had gotten theirs after a breeder who had supplied them died suddenly. The Welsummer threads said Estes is good... then later on heard reports of them becoming aggressive. I am curious how yours turn out.

Husband is interested in getting them sooner though, so we'll see. I found someone willing to sell me hatching eggs for Crested Cream Legbars though I'll end up with too many roosters and maybe too many hens. I want 7 or 8 hens and 7 or 8 Welsummer pullets. Then one Welsummer rooster, prefer unrelated to the oWelsummer pullets I'll get. I don't know if we'll breed them later, but want to keep that door open. We could always take away the eggs which are not brown if we wanted to hatch the Welsummer eggs with this set up.

I don't have an incubator though and will ask a Mennonite friend though he has bantams and his hens hide eggs and hatch them so not sure what to do. We are hoping to get them all the same time about the same age so they will be a bonded flock more, no worry about mixing different ages.

So, we'll see.
I am trying to find birds which had parent birds tested for GS and GP / I was shocked to find out the NPIP program doesn't even test for those!

Greetings, peeps. Wanted to say hello. We have had chickens in the past. Currently are chicken- less :-(.

We are really hoping to get some CCL pullets, Welsummer pullets and a Welsummer roo.

This may be a big dream but if we could choose, those. We are trying to avoid hatcheries also, especially based on our research about the Welsummers. Trying to get a docile roo especially.

Wanting to start with baby chicks. We enjoy our flock and hope to have some before long. Look forward to meeting everyone.

Welcome! You should have some luck with getting those here! No dream is too big when you have the support of us enablers here!!

Those would be chimera chickens. I know dogs and cats can be like that. Have you seen chickens like that?

Do not try this at home folks! Don't lick your eggs before you put them into lock down. This does nothing to assist with hatch rates!

thanks to ellymayrans, I cant stop picturing you licking your eggs before putting them in lock down. It is a very funny mental picture! Lol!! I read that gynandromorphs or chimera are made from one egg being fertilized by two roosters... all I have are cochin and polish boys, so this should be interesting!
