INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I guess I was April Fooled today by my dog! After finally getting to bed (have to work at 6am tomorrow/this morning now), I woke up to my dog vomiting dog poop (yes you read that correctly!) all over my bed! Of course it soaked down to the mattress so now I'm sleeping on the couch while the scrubbed mattress dries and bedding being washed. almost got through the day....

I am doing this. I have 5 lasagna beds and then we till a large area that we plant our root veggies and sweet corn. I think this is a great way to put the chicks to work and a will be a great way to keep them out once new starts are planted!! I have had to replant too many times because they make it into the garden before the plants have had time to get good and rooted! I'll take pics when I'm done!

Blah! So sorry about that! I had a Dane that would do that but only when he was kenneled! Should see my face just thinking about it!

Well I can't share my April fool prank but let's just say my DHs little brother (freshman at Ball State) sent us a text saying something along the lines of CNN breaking news..with a link that was a Huge pic of a Naked Very large man! Eek! I told DH ...geez.. You know how you stare at a light bulb for even a sec and it burns that image for a bit you see it no matter where you look! Well that's how disturbing it was!! Boys!

Oh forgot to mention he sent it to their 3 sisters and Mom! Lol! DHs response was "glad you finally decided to show us your roommate!" Haha!

Sadly, I know exactly what you're talking about. Our dog has the same (very nasty) habit. In his taste-testing, he prefers wild rabbit & chicken poop above all other treats.

Sorry to hear about your extra laundry. You'll get a good laugh about it in a few days.

Thank goodness we haven't had the vomiting part, but our dogs think chicken poop is candy. They even like the frozen chunks in winter. Eeeeewww!!!

I have a general livestock question for those of you that keep large livestock. I have a TON of wasted leftover hay from the round bales I fed the horses all winter. The grass won't grow through it since it is so deep, I pushed it into several huge hay mountains. There is so much that I am nervous to burn it, I feel it could get out of control quickly. I called the fire department and they were no help, basically said not to burn it because they have had so many field fires start this way, but they didn't have any options for getting rid of it. What do you guys do? It would take me a year to bag/throw it away. I don't know what to do with it!

It is pretty gross stuff, they peed and pooped on it all winter so I can't see anything consuming it at this point, I need to get rid of it!

Not sure what to do other than make a compost pile that your chickens can get to scratching in.

But so that it does not happen again you might look into premier ones hay feeders. it is a set of walls that minimizes the round bale waste.

I agree with the compost idea! Organic fertilizer too!

400

Here is the start (stupid rain!) of 1of 2 A frame tractors. It's footprint is 8' x 7-1/2' and its 5' tall at the peak. It will be covered in 2"x4" welded wire fence. With the back half cover in steel siding for a shelter. They will first work up an area for our garden then they will be moved out to an area of our hay field to finish growing out. Hopefully the rain holds off a little while longer so I can finish at least one today!
