INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

My results from the Easter H-A-L 7 eggs set; (6 were fertile) *These eggs were chosen by my broody - not me) Day 6 - Eggs moved to incubator & clear one tossed. Day 18 - All looked good Day 21 - Nothing; not even pips Day 22 - All 6 hatched. Now let's play find the chickies! Can you see all 6? 1 is a pure lav orp. 1 is a Lav Orp x Sussex/Orp. The other 4 are EEs, I think. (CCLxLav Orp or EExLav Orp) Either way, they're all cute & healthy.

Hope this is ok, I'm having a hard time finding d'uccle chicks or adults in southern indiana, can anyone help me? I had a roo and the last winter storm we had killed him. I have a young hen that needs a partner. I was also wondering if anyone else has issues trying to raise porcelain d'uccle chicks? I had 3 and came home from work today to find all 3 dead and the last ones I bought, I only had 2 of them survive. The millies do ok, is there something wrong with the porcelain?

I have a couple of MF d'uccle roos rehoming for a fellow BYCer that moved away. I'm not sure where you are, but Friday @Amwchickin is picking up one for herself. Maybe you 2 talk and see about a chicken swap meet up. Otherwise I'm in Martinsville if you're interested I can send pics.

I have porcelain in the incubator but were shipped and I don't have any to speak of as for their hardiness. I hope they hatch and do well!!

I'm about 10 minutes from downtown Louisville. How old is the roo and I would like to see him if you could post a picture of him or send it in a private message. I'm picking up some hatching eggs this weekend from a friend and really hope for a good hatch.

I would say splash and if the other has a mahogany color to it Golden Cuckoo and a girl being so dark.

Here are some of my Golden Cuckoo Marans I hatched from mine for the Easter HAL. You can see the lighter is boy others appear to be girls.

Thanks for weighing in. I paid for girls, so hopefully this year they all are...although I already have my doubts about one of the Salmon Favorelles.

The darker one doesn't really have any brown to her. She looks like two of the listed breeds to me (what photos I've seen online), but I'm unsure...

More pics from the Easter HAL! I have some adorable little stinkers!

Love these kinds of butt shots! Haha!
Such cute pics!!!

Lookie lookie what I found this morning!

It got stuck in a water pan overnight. Almost like it was serving itself up on a platter for the chickens! It's a blue-spotted salamander (Ambystoma laterale), I believe. Not the first one of these guys to be rescued from the hens, either!

It was so small! It was carefully relocated to a nice, moist, rotting log in the woods by the creek. I wish we had a good vernal pool that I could have put it near, but the creek's as close as we get to that in our woods.

Yay, nature!

Got some good news. I ordered another batch of CornX from Rural king Kendallville this eve. Should be here next week! No shipping when ordering from them either that's the good news part!!

A thought to consider is when you will be processing them. Many Rural kings will get a few more chicks in this August -October too.

But processing on a hot summer day is not as comfortable as a cool early winter day.

Adorable!!!

Thanks! I've never been a part of a hatch along and it was fun! My aunt used an incubator I made her and for her very first hatch she got 6 new little fluffy butts!! ;)

The dark Marans has to be a cuckoo as the spot on its head. I didn't see Cuckoo/silver Cuckoo on your possible list then it must be a Golden Cuckoo. All of my Goldens have a mahogany tint to their down usually on their face/head. I have silver Cuckoo too and love them both so Win win!! Black copper doesn't have a head spot.

ARRRGH! I have 6 turkey hens trying to sit on two wooden eggs and none are laying anymore. They all are just piled up in the nest. The boys are wandering around the run looking in corners wondering where they went. I think I'll take the wooden eggs away tomorrow and see if they give up.
I had to take away any fake eggs also. Bourbon hens were all sitting on 2 fakes and one real egg! What a crowd in the small nest. The tom is pretty unhappy right now, but 2 have already snapped out of it.

Snapped a couple quick pictures of some of the silkies tonight.

The lavender boy was acting very friendly when I walked into the pen. Come to find out, he was just trying to mount my arm/hand! I guess his ladies aren't very cooperative for him!
They are gorgeous! LOL yep the young roos sure go after anything, what goofballs.

I am happy to report Rico has found a FANTASTIC place to go live. I couldn't be happier. He will have 16 ladies all to himself. I am confident he can handle it! It was super hard to let him go being my first rooster ever, but I know he will be treated like a king there...and that just makes my heart so happy!!!
I am so happy to hear it! Congrats to you and Rico!

I'm new to all this but I'm in merrillville indiana
