I just read a little bit on Google, they can be poisoned with no antidote. Most symptom subside after 2-4 weeks.

can u send me that link please. I am not very good at this and I cant find anything on overdose goat. thanks

Silly question for those of you that hatch shipped eggs. Do you pick them up at the post office like chicks? I'm worried about them bouncing around in a truck all day since we tend to be at the end of the delivery route.

In other news, I should never leave overnight! In addition to two missing chicks I have a Jubilee that's limping

I suspect the cat. I brought her into the house with a buddy and will clean her up in a bit. She's moving her leg but not her foot, any ideas on what else I should do for her?

Looks like girls to me! If I can make it out to pick them up, yes its much better to do so. Thats one less ride they will take being shuffled, bounced and stacked up on.

Things are going better after my egg debacle last week. I have had several customers come back and request more chicks and now want roosters as well!!!! LOL nothing says satisfied customer like someone later WANTING a rooster!!!

Equine boot camp started yesterday, I rode three horses after 9 months of no riding. I came through it surprisingly well. They all refrained from attempts on my life. I am sore in some super awkward places today though!

In sad news, my Pee Wee passed yesterday. She never was quite right and I consider it a gift to have had her for a year and a half. RIP sweet girl.

Lovely girl, I am so sorry. She had a good life while she was wth you.

Ive also got my bresse eggs hatching, I have freedom rangers on order, and Brad has some BLRW for me also WOW is all I can say...

I do! But do not know how I will work it out to get them. I need to add black, even splits to my LO this season.

Have my new "flocklets" out free ranging now, daytime only and supervised. This includes the 6 mallards, 15 BBB, and a handful of LOs and EE chicks that are maturing. One more large hatch happening now, and I am done aside from setting turkey, guinea, quail or muscovy eggs this year. all 8 muscovy hens are brooding, all 4 adult turkey hens. All my goose hens,and my 3 guinea hens, ugh. going to let them! I really enjoy watching the interaction with the mothers, some of these girls are 3 years old, deserve to raise their own broods.
The babies I incubated are still in the porch at night for now, they will move to the grow up pen in a week. I don't plan to take any chicks away unless the mothers are not brooding properly. Would like for my hens to raise my flocks going forward and just hatch quail and turkeys as needed.

Thanks for the welcome. I am amazed at all the information packed into one thread. Everyone is very positive and thoughtful of other members.

We are preparing to set some more turkey eggs. We are not having much luck. One would think it would be the same basic idea as for chicken or duck eggs, but we haven't got it right yet.
Last years chicken hatch rate was good. Too good as we had to give chicks away. Sure wish our turkey hens would go broody. From what I've read, not all Bourbon Red hens will go broody.
So, we are checking and rechecking and hope to start fresh today.

Oh, for those up north in IN, stay warm. Down to 36 degrees here this morning. Brrrr

the soapy water tends to be very popular. I found an official milk strainer from an online store, so I'm going to give that a shot.

Glad you found a strainer that will work for you. I've not tried an actual milk strainer, but have heard they do a great job. Being on a budget, I'm always looking for good alternatives that are inexpensive, thus the method I use.

I am not milking right now and sure miss the fresh milk and especially yogurt.

Lol. Yes, admitting we have a problem is the first step. But your biggest problem is that none of the enablers on this forum (myself included) will allow you to believe it is a problem. In fact, they will tempt you with pictures and rapturous descriptions of breeds you've never seen, but now must have. Not that that has ever happened to me....and I've never done that to anyone...oh wait, you have my Bresse now, and I'm saving CCL eggs for another member, and I have Dorkings on order, and Muscovies, and more turkeys ordered too...have I mentioned I have poults for sale?

I have 7 turkey hens, and it's been a week since I've seen one outside even for a minute. They are all broody, haven't gotten an egg in weeks. One thing I am noticing is be careful with too much humidity in your hatcher. I've been keeping an eye on my poults hatching and it seems like with the thicker membrane the poults get stuck earlier and easier than the chicks. Has anyone else noticed this?
