INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I'm in NWI and looking for breeders in the area. Does anyone have any that they favor over the others?

I've gotten my 4 flocks from the feed store and I'm not doing that anymore. I've hatched a few of my own, but m next flock is definitely coming from a local breeder.

Hey guys, my good friend @jsummers
is looking for a LaMancha doe. Age is unimportant as well as papers, but her old girl recently passed and now she does not have a milking doe. She would like to find one thats not "too old" to breed and freshen however. Any help or recommendations appreciated. If you have some info, please pm me, she doesn't get time online often.

That's a goat right? I know a person who breeds goats she knows a lot of goat people I can ask her when I get back home

We have a few chicken pictures and other poultry-related things we use for decoration around the shed and in the kitchen. I found an electronic picture that I'd like to learn more about. Does anybody recognize this image, and can tell me something about it? For example what the title is or who the artist may be?
I don't know either but I really love it.

It's 2x4 welded wire 6'x100' and I just cut it to size. I've added hardware cloth to the sides of some as I have them further from the house. Attached nest boxes to some also. Just with zip ties so they are easy for me to remove. They are the plastic nest boxes from Rural King.

Yes I priced their Organic feed. Their layer feed varies from crumbles or pellets and I think it's $12.95. They have Gamebird breeder feed, Turkey feed etc. Non of those are more than $14.95. Their feed is 18% and higher also.
I didn't think that would hold it's shape. Have you used it in the winter? I want to build one of those but with a little house init like the big permanent ones.
Just didn't think it would be strong enough.

You found Organic feed for that price at RK? Which one? Thats a real good price. I have never seen Organic feed at RK, dont mean it aint there just saying I'v never seen it.

Well my bad luck is holding. Went out to feed around 8pm as I always do and 1st I found my Black mom standing in shock and clearly mulled, and her 3 babies that she yesterday, gone. Then I found a pile of feathers like a chicken had been plucked right in that spot. I got to looking around some more and doing a head count and found a WR some tore up feathers but otherwise fine, and then a trail of my missing Lt. Brahma's feathers leading to the neighbors back door along with the whole in my fence. DH video taped it all and we called the police. Well as for the norm around here, they took a report OVER THE PHONE, and said that they would send AC in the morning. Well I waited around all day yesterday, nothing!!!
DH went over to this deadbeats house right after it happen ( well after we found it ) and seen them moving around in the kitchen windows, but they would not answer the door. They had been warned that their dog had been tearing holes in the fence, and that if she harmed or killed any of my birds there would be H E double hockey sticks to pay.
I have been over there a few times since and get the same result, home but wont answer!! When I shot someone don't forget " I tried to let the LAW handle it " but as for the norm they don't give a hoot!!!!
Just so ya know the black hen is doing great and the Splash hen has let her have 4 babies.

I'm so upset for you! They obviously know what their dog did and can't be adult enough to even talk to you..... I pray they do something to make sure that never happens again. Hugs to you.

Thank you but I don't see them doing anything... they are too busy playing video games and smoking pot. Their poor kid has to rise himself and he is only 10. The other neighbors said he caught the kid outside shooting at my pens. Nothing was done about that either.

I just cant wait to get out of here. As soon as DH gets his settlement we are getting a bigger place out in the sticks!!! I just have to keep from killing someone in the meantime... lol

Shooting at your pens?? WHAT? I'd be shooting their dog the next time it came into my yard! Do you have a camera that you can set up? The cops would have to do something about the kid. I'm livid for you. I'll never have neighbors again. We're on 5 acres, so I know if something gets to my flocks, it's a Fox, Raccoon, Coyote or Mink. We usually live trap and relocate 4-5 miles away. How big is the neighbors dog?

Cheers to moving soon!

I haven't used them in the winter yet. However welded wire seems very strong. I just used the natural bend in them for the hoop since it's in a big roll and bent a foot of skirting around the bottom. Then cut 2 ends square to cover. Also with skirting bottoms. I only use them as temporary pens so there's just a top hatch but I keep it tied and rarely use. I would like to build a better framed trap door type for them but haven't. They are only built to hold a few birds. I did put 2 together for the Turkeys though and it works great. I just drag them around to allow for fresh grass. The individual pens are approximately 6' long, 3' tall by 4' wide. I've used for breeding pens, grow out pens and like with the new ducks to familiarize them/quarantine.

I saw the Martinsville Rural King has a new feed and think it was Organic but didn't pay much attention. The Organic feed I was talking of in my earlier posts were at a feed store on the Southside of Indy, just south of Southport road on Bluff. Glenns Valley feed and Seed. They carry flowers, vegetable plants, trees, feed and Seed (grass seed, etc.)
