Its my goal to get to the point I fill feeders and waterers a couple times a week. Still collect eggs daily, but we are really trying to simplify and streamline our chores. Looking into automatic waterers/nipples for my pigs to cut the mud some, ugh. I fill the water trough several times a day. My Boar, Oreo thinks he needs 4 inches of mud at all times! I no sooner fill it and he dumps it.What a goofball. We add grass clippings, pine needles and leaves, hay etc to the hog pen often, and scrape out several times a year for the compost pile.
Not sure how an auto watering system can work on tractor coops, we are brainstorming it too.Be a lot of quick disconnects! We plan to add another hydrant dedicated to the animals water supply only. Any waterfowl will have to have buckets, no way around that. They have to be able to dunk those heads.
We always used a section of pvc pipe with one end capped and a nipple installed low for the hogs. Not a good winter solution but kept mud down. That's my plan this go round as well.
