I fill a very few orders each spring for day-old Ameraucanas. I have left over 6 large fowl wheatens and 3 large fowl blacks. These are not easter eggers, but real Ameraucanas from parent stock I have exhibited. I'm posting it here instead of the Buy and Sell because they would have to be picked up in New Castle, IN. Price is $90 for all 9 (straight run). I will not split them up. PM me with any questions.

Chick issue

One of our penciled rock chicks (came from shipped eggs) cannot walk properly. I've never seen this before. At 1st I thought injury, but now I think it's from deformed feet. I gave it some vitamins (Poly-vii-sol without iron) & "Sav a chick" in water. It's drinking & I figured vitamins wouldn't hurt while I research.

Do I need to cull it or is this something that can be treated? Any advice on what to research?

Now I feel horrible for not spotting it sooner. Cookie is such an awesome broody, so I haven't been fussing over the chicks as much.

In my limited experience so far, I was able to straighten toes out by making a little "boot" with medical tape. I have seen posts where they used band aids, too. But when I had a chick where the problem was the joint of the leg, not the foot, splinting did not work. The leg eventually twisted to the point that we felt the chick needed to be put down. Your chick's foot looks awfully cramped up, but maybe the boots will work. Your space the toes out evenly on the sticky tape, and then cover them with another piece, so that they are sandwiched in the proper position. Then you need to redo it as the chick grows, so the boot doesn't get too small. You can find pictures on BYC somewhere. Good luck!

Thanks. I used 2 band aids to make booties. The feet straightened out, so hopefully I caught it in time. I decided to put the chick in with the quail. (Less chance of being bullied by bigger chicks & higher protein may be good for a couple days.) I also added vitamins to their water.

Anyone looking for Polish Chicks?
I am supposed to pick up 6 Polish chicks this week and next from Agrarian. We are dealing with some financial stuff and sadly I really can't afford them right now!
This week - April 12, I am supposed to pick up 2 Buff Laced Polish and 2 White Crested Blue (I special ordered the white crested blue)
Next week - April 19 I am supposed to pick up 2 Gold Laced
They are sexed pullets.

Is anyone interested in taking over all or part of my order?
Please PM me and I will call Agrarian and give them your info. Very sad to have to do this. Something happens to my dream of owning Polish every year! The one bird I wanted more than any other from the very start of my chicken journey. SIGH!
