i may have started my incubation lockdown one day early. Eggs went in june 10th at 2 pm...and i started lockdown yesterday at 4 pm. Think i will be ok, or did i kill them all???

It won't bother them, the only problem you may have is with your humidity dropping before your lockdown is over. Just make sure there is plenty of water in there today, cause they should start popping out tomorrow or Tuesday!

Good Morning Everyone!!
We are getting close to the 30 day mark!
I will let you all know in advance that I will not be around next weekend as I will hopefully be celebrating my birthday. I finally got my garden finished and have been feverishly weeding it so this weekend was BYC free too

AC-glad you are well on your way to pullet heaven.

asylum11-keep us updated on your hatch. I am sure an early lockdown will be ok

Can you tell I'm excited?
I have 2- white Bantam Cochins(11 weeks) from Miss Jayne-one pullet, one roo, I think.
2- 1 black/one blue Orpingtons(7 weeks) from Miss Prissy-not sure about sex yet.
2- EE's(7 weeks)from MichiganWoods-not sure about sex.
1- RCRIR(3 weeks) from Miss Jayne.

I want these to go in pairs if possible, because I don't want to be stuck with all roos! I decided I don't want to have a dozen different breeds mixed together. I like Silkies and I want to concentrate on just Silkies. I really like the Cochins, but I don't care for the white (sorry, Miss Jayne

)! I like color! The RIR will be hard to give up-his/her name is "Miracle" because she survived some amazing circumstances! It is a very sweet, friendly baby!
I will post pictures of them all later.
I am looking for black/blue/splash Silkies-any age is fine.
I will probably have Coturnix quail eggs AND chicks if anybody is interested.


I also have an E-Z-UP canopy that I can bring. I can bring a 5-gallon cooler of (sweet!) Iced tea, and probably something else-maybe a Buckeye Cake? It is a MOIST chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.

sooo originally I was not going to be able to bring any chickens home from the swap, but it has been a hard week on my chickens and I may actually be able to allow myself to bring some back with me. Last week I found one of my 3 month old pullets from TSC dead in the pen, she was very very thin and I wondered if maybe the others had not been allowing her to eat . . . I have not been living at my house for about 3 weeks now due to parents being gone and it is easier for me to stay at their house to take care of their 4 dogs and my 2 and go to my house to let the kids out/lock them up than to stay at my house and travel back and forth to deal with the dogs. Well, the next day I found my roo, Dragon, laying on his side in the run. His whole back side was nasty and after a quick bath, some sugarwater, and canned cat food he perked up a bit, was standing on saturday, but crashed on me again last night and I lost him today. Then I lost 2 more, one silver laced OEGB and my shoulder d'uccle hens, and have my bantam ee hen sick. These are all from the same batch of TSC chicks and I finally had a hint as to what was going on, besides all being very thin and fine one day, down and out the next, when one of the kids pooped what looked like mostly blood. I am treating everyone for cocci, the ones at home that seem healthy in the run get sulmet in their drinking water, the little bantam ee and her d'anvers friend are getting albon by mouth twice daily (luckily they love that !) so in addition to loosing those 4 chicks (3 pullets, 1 roo) I had also given one of the drs I work for 3 delaware hens and 1 silkie chick. Sooo . . . . . . . . I will be needing to get some kinds of replacements for my lost kids come chickenstock time . . . .

and orphs are always wonderful . . . . hehehe

but it is getting close to chickenstock time !!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
