Indoor Cats! ??

What else would they really enjoy? Yep, another kitty indoors with them, of course....you're gonna want another one, and may as well intro another one the same age right now so they can grow up together.

Cats are great pets for small spaces. For years now mine are strictly indoors only. The cats never went outside without me attached to them with a harness and leash. My old ones could go out back in the fenced yard if I was right there watching them. Even though they were too old to climb or jump, they were easy prey for hawks and coyotes. eta: Hence indoor only for my feline pets after coyotes and such.

Mine love running water to drink, so table fountains are a hit. A pain to clean every day, though, lol. They love those mouse toys where the eyes light up when it squeeks. These: http://www.playnsqueak.com/products.html ...just hide them at night or won't get much sleep, lol. Have fun.

We have 6 that are indoor/outdoor, and 3 are completely outdoor. I will say that we live in a very secluded area and taught the cats at a very young age to be afraid of cars. When they were kittens, we would go an take them outside, start up a car, and rev the engine to scare them. We would then take them to a safe place, and turn off the car. Even now every time an engine starts, you see 9 cats run to their safe place. We have a 13 yr old outdoor cat and our oldest one was 17 before he passed away. All of the indoor/outdoor ones come in at night, and they know as soon as it gets dark to be at the door. The only injury we ever had was when our one got caught in a fox trap, she needed her paw amputated, but even to this day she refuses to be a house cat. We talked to the neighbor that was trapping and told them what happened, and they said they would not trap again.

Just wanted to add a pic of Teddy(dark grey),Rosie(light Grey) and Grizabella(Bells), three of 10, 12 day old kitten we rescued. The greys are brother and sister, and the calico is their half-sister. We kept 5 and they are all indoor/outdoor. They all had on their best outfits to get their pictures take with Santa

I lost my last cat about 3 years ago. Before that we had had dozens over the years--always house cats! I do not believe in turning a cat loose to wander. They are killing machines when it comes to small birds and such and fodder for larger animals, so my cats were never outdoors. None of them seemed to be particularly unhappy about it either. They lived long, full lives free of fleas and parasites and without ever being mauled by who knows what. I've taken in many a stray but never created one.
