I'm not sure I have an Indoor Dog

he sleeps inside at night, comes in and goes out as he pleases, but he is a farm dog. (I don't have a doggy door - I am a doggy doorman.)

I know that one all too well! We finally got smart and made the door so they can open it to go in or out by themselves otherwise they would pound on the door to get back in.

I don't count, but it kinda goes like this:

My dog goes out when DH gets home and again before he goes to bed.
She goes out when I come home and again before I go to bed.
Any other time that I go out in the yard she comes too, any time she whines and "asks" to go out I let her out then too.

I just let her out in the fenced back yard, except when she's in heat. We walk for an hour almost every night, except on her cycle. Can't wait to get her fixed

We have a huge fenced area, and the dog is in and out of the house all day.

I still throw a ball or frisbee for him for exercise, though ... or he'll steal a piece of wood from the woodpile and bring it to me if he wants to play some fetch when I'm outside working.

We hung a strip of sleigh bells on the back door. Our female shepherd quiclky learned to ring them to be let out. Since the female passed away, our male has nobody to ring the doorbell for him. The male has never picked up on that. He comes into the room and stares at people and trys to use his jedi mind tricks to control them to get what he wants.

Um, well, I consider any dog that sleeps indoors at night an indoor dog. My dogs are outside all day. We take them for a four mile walk every day, except every third day my SO works so they get some earth dog fun in instead. Once a week we take them to a dog park. They also go with us to any and every pet friendly store there is. They sleep inside (on our bed whenever I get my way. Nice and warm

) and are indoors when it rains. When we extend the fence we'll be able to put in a doggy door so they can come and go at will, but I don't want the lazy indoor dog syndrome fostered in them so if I ever find that they're in more than out I'll have to disable the doggy door. I don't anticipate that being a problem, though . . . they can't get outside fast enough.

Guy wasn't even settled yet and he had to go back to the shelter. Wish we could have kept him, we had approval and everything. Brought him back and he was already housebroken, would kennel up, did not even think about setting his nose on furniture, great in the car, and would go where pointed to go. He was at the shelter for a month before we tried, so we think that during that time he became afraid to be alone/abandoned. Saw him go to 4 other homes before he stopped popping up on the shelter webpage... hope he found a home, he really was a good dog, I still check to see if he was returned again.

Took him out 3x a day. Once in the am for a long run, once after work, and once before bed time.

I have a doggie door for my 2 German Shepherds and pit bull mix. they can come in and out and in and out and in and out 24/7. I also walk them at least once a day, and when I'm working in the yard, both shepherds are with me, and when i go into town, the alpha shepherd is with me.

its amazing how many places allow you to bring your poochie into stores

We let our Boxer out approx. 4 times a day...maybe 5 (she'll let us know when she needs to go) and we just open the door, she does her business, and then she'll scratch on the door when she's ready to come back in.
