Indoor farming hobbies?

I am looking for an indoor farming hobby for a friend. Its very hot where she lives, so she doesn't want to spend hours in the heat and mosquitoes. Something for a new homesteader. Thanks!

Indoor vegetables or hydroponics? I know there’s lots of grow-your-own veggie kits that come in cute little pots and are usually dwarf varieties. There’s also heaps of fruit trees that come in varieties specifically for pots! I have a blueberry branded specifically for growing in a pot on a patio. I’ve also seen limes, lemons, and oranges!

When growing inside you have to buy light (the fixture and electricity to run it) instead of getting it free from the sun. Not many crops are worth the extra cost and effort (marijuana being the notable exception).

Try looseleaf lettuce. It is quick, everyone eats it, it can have a propolged harvest and there's lots of information available with the details.
